We like to tell everyone that our roots run deep. Since 1892, Guthrie Greenhouses has been growing and distributing annuals, perennials, vegetables and groundcovers. Utilizing 10 acres of greenhouses and 5 acres of outdoor growing space, we supply top-quality plants to independent garden centers and nurseries, farm and ranch stores, hardware stores and professional landscape contractors in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.
We offer a wide array of Red Dirt Plants every spring season. Whether you're looking for tomatoes and carrots, or geraniums and petunias, you can count on us to deliver. We feature an impressive selection of annuals, perennials and accents to liven up any home or garden. Red Dirt Plants start showing their color in garden centers beginning in late February and are available in bloom through June.
Fall is more of a relaxed time of year for Red Dirt Plants than spring, but you will still find our green thumbs are hard at work. With an emphasis on fall color such as pansies, hardy mums, and kale, we offer quite the array of autumn selections. Our shorter fall shipping season begins as soon as the weather cools off, usually from late August through October.
Beuatifully variegated leaves and long-blooming flowers brighten shaded gardens and summer containers. Superb ground cover beneath trees or shrubs. Attractive along walkways. Vigorous and free-flowering plants are ideal for large garden plantings and looks fabulous in hanging baskets. Thrives in full, hot sun from dawn to dusk.
Bold, deeply lobed silvery-green leaves grow in a giant rosette. The fleshy flower buds 2 to 5 inches in diameter borne on a tall stem from the center of the plant are the edible portion. Cut in late summer before fruits open. Trim spent stalks back to base for new shoots. An ancient staple crop grown throughout North and South America.

"Red Dirt" are the hardiest and best quality plants you can find locally for the fairest price. Their garden starts in particular cannot be beat, but they grow some of everything -- indoor, landscaping and vegetable garden. Find a local retailer near you since at grower Guthrie Greenhouses they are wholesale only. I see their plants everywhere, but I prefer to buy from the mom and pop shops they frequently supply.
