I keep giving this place a chance because I want to support local business and because well, I love quilting. I'm about to give up. I don't know if it's because I'm a man or if because I'm a "novice", but every time I go in they are so condescending. My first visit, one of the woman literally rolled her eyes at me. Second visit they acted like they didn't have time for me. I thought it was me, but my sister, who was with me that visit, asked after leaving, "are they always that rude?". I love the wool selection as well as the reproduction fabrics. Caroline is always so helpful!! I drive 1 1/2 hours at least once a month to shop at the hen house.

A great place to find good quality fabrics for quilting or craft projects. They have given me good ideas for new projects and helped me make a decision on finishing a project.

The Hen House is devoted to a type of quilter/crafter known as "primitive." Everything in this place is intentionally old-fashioned looking.

Not the place to go if you favor art quilts and batiks and modern fabric designers such as Amy Butler.

But if you prefer your textile creations to evoke aged antiques, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!

Looking around the Hen House, you'll see civil war repros, and lots of tea-stained or somber tones.
