Founded in 1973 by Kay (Ferguson) Thorson and her mother, Lenore Kinkel, and husband Jerry Ferguson the prospering business started in Kay's home and did custom work for local designers. It wasn't long before the business grew to the point where it needed to expand.
In 1975, Kay & L purchased a building in downtown Waverly and hired retail salespeople in Iowa and Minnesota and in 1977 they built a new facility to accommodate the quickly growing business.The company remains family owned and operated. Both Jerry Ferguson and Lenore Kinkel passed away in the 80's.

Our seamstresses have over 150 years of combined experience manufacturing draperies, top treatments, bedspreads, coverlets, duvets, dust skirts, pillows, upholstered headboards and cornices along with many other custom home decor items.You can use Kay & L Draperies line of fabrics or you can supply your own materials (C.O.M.) for fabrication in our workroom.

We have a large selection of fabric swatch books showcasing the different patterns and colors we stock in our warehouse. We are also a distributor of Roc-Lon Linings, which we use in our workroom as well as sell by yard or by the bolt at competitive prices.
