City Design possesses the experience and talent necessary to handle a wide array of commercial, residential, and government projects, anywhere from one room renovations to commercial space new construction to environmental retrofitting and lead remediation. No matter how large or small, City Design is committed to making the client's project vision come to life.
We are based in the Old Town neighborhood of San Diego, California which provides us with a vibrant, multi-cultural source of inspiration, as well as being convenientally located to most parts of the city and North County. City Design's mission is to provide superior construction, remodeling and environmental remediation services through the use of innovative designs, sustainable building methods and technologies, and skilled craftsmanship.
Design and build (D&B) projects are core City Design service offerings. We engage in our own such projects, as well as accepting projects on behalf of clients. While based in Washington, DC from 2004-mid-2008, City Design contractors performed numerous D&B engagements throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
Like many small design and construction firms, City Design got its start with remodeling and retrofitting projects. Space constraints and historical ordinances on the East Coast made remodeling and home renovation, as opposed to new construction, a very familiar task to us. As the global economy continues to improve, we have had more new construction opportunities, but also a wealth of retrofitting assignments.
City Design is proud to serve Federal, State, and Local government clients nationwide. We provide government agencies with a variety of services, from simple remodel and trade-specific projects, to full-scale environmental remediation, to large design and build endeavors. All projects include sustainable materials and techniques to the full extent allowed by our clients.

I used City Design for some remodeling in my home when they had a branch in the DC metro area. They performed 2 complete bathroom remodels, kitchen upgrades, recessed lighting, painting and more. No matter the task, this company had the professionals on staff to tend to my every need and I didn't have to break the bank to get it all done.

Just getting around to writing this review after several projects with this team. I engaged City Design to remodel my condo. From putting in new flooring, to repainting and installing modern track lighting, their staff did an excellent job. I especially appreciate their attention to detail and use of environmentally friendly products.
As a follow on, I asked them to build one of their "mini-mods", which I used as a small freestanding backyard office. Instead of spending a ton on an addition, I was able to get this little structure which looks cute and even has air-coinditioning so I
