This year I bought a new house. Two weeks before the closing, we found out that there was a large mechanics lien on the house. The transaction became a total nightmare! Mr. Berry K. Tucker graduated Loyola University of School of Law in 1972 and was hired as assistant counsel to the State of Illinois Department of Mental Health. This position was followed by several years as Assistant Chief Counsel to the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he served as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Departments' Lake Michigan Water Allocation Section.

Although I was extremely nervous of going through a hard fought legal matter, Mr. Tucker was quite understanding of my concerns. Although my case was difficult, he explained the legal complications of the matter in layman's terms without hesitation. During the summer of 2019, I filed for divorce after being married for 2 years. I decided to use the services of Tucker & Associates, a local firm in the area. My initial consultation was with Barry Tucker, in which he did a commendable job with explaining my options moving forward. He provided me with his hourly rate, in addition to the hourly rate of his associate - Cheri Costa. Since my case was fairly simple, as a result of the short length of time of being married, I decided to utilize this firm and I selected Barry’s associate Cheri Costa. I paid a $3,500 retainer to start the process.

I was going through a possible divorce and I was very emotionally distraught. Mr. Tucker explained to me that going through a divorce was a really tough, long, and likely expensive process. He suggested some resources to encourage me to try and work through my problems with my spouse. I had one additional consultation and he did not charge me anything near what I expected to have to pay. I am grateful for his humanity as a lawyer and for his honesty about how hard it would have been to continue down this path. In November 2014, my husband and I met with Attorney Berry Tucker to consult with him regarding a domestic matter (child support reduction). During the consultation, I gave Mr. Tucker information and figures related to the case and he proceeded to do some calculating on his own. His calculations were incorrect, as he completed them using my husband's net income, without adding in the child support amount, which was already being deducted. He acknowledged that he was wrong and when we received the documents in the mail from him, they included the same incorrect figures he'd produced during the consultation
