Services
Pioneer Theatre Company is located on the University of Utah campus, right across the street from Rice-Eccles Football stadium. University parking for PTC performances is FREE, and there is a fair amount of it within a two-block distance of Simmons PMT. You'll find better parking than at most downtown events, and you don't have to pay for it.
As a professional nonprofit theatre, PTC relies on the support of our friends and patrons. The remaining one-third must come from contributions. We joyfully and gratefully return to the stage for the 2021-2022 season after an 18-month hiatus. Your support during this time is crucial. Make a gift today and preserve PTC's ability to produce exceptional theatre.
We provide Opening Weekend tickets to members of the media working with recognized newspapers, radio stations, television stations and other publishing arts organizations for the purpose of reviewing the production. On a case-by-case basis, we provide review tickets to established bloggers and other non-affliated reviewers.

Wonderful costumes, stage props and voices but The Elf musical was more than disappointing. We came during a school matinee and chose to leave early. I don't know how Pioneer Theater Company could ruin a classic Christmas story such as this, but they've done it. Pop culture references and cursing are unnecessary & inappropriate for a school audience. It was a complete waste of our time and I will be voting in the future to not have my tax dollars support this place any longer.
Definitely not family friendly as advertised. They've turned a PG movie into PG13 viewing.

Professional theatre company. Always does a good job, though the latest managing director seemed to have a strong preference to hiring east-coast performers at all costs, rather than our extensive local talent--it seemed like the appearance of recruiting remote actors was more important than putting on the best show. With that PTC began to lose some of its shine.
We no longer have season tickets, even though we had to give up some of the best seats in the house.
Perhaps the new management crew will return to putting on the best show rather than being able to feather their cap and attend self

The Pioneer theater is a nice spot to see a live show. The theater itself is on the small side so you'd be hard pressed to find a bad seat. The theater is in the middle of the U of U campus so parking can be unpleasant as there isn't a dedicate lot for the theater. There were refreshments available in the lobby during intermission, but the lobby is pretty cramped with only a few chairs. The prices for the show we attended were pretty high for the quality of the venue and production which were average to slightly below average. I'd recommend this theater, but you can probably find better options
