Although Ed and Kathi wanted the restaurants to feel like a home away from home, they also loved the bustle of the old diners. The counter and its surrounding area were the perfect area to make this come to life. And what does every diner need, but a round, neon clock! Ed and Kathi worked with a local business to have the first "Corner Cafe" clock created and now all 3 stores tell their time by the neon clock that hangs over the serving window.
In 1983, Ed and Kathi Rule opened a 40-seat cafe that served breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday. They had never been in the restaurant business before, but always felt they knew what good food was about. There was a lot of learning in the early years with daily specials written on the front windows and chalkboards.

There had always been a small restaurant at the "Corner" in Riverside, Missouri, but before 1983 it had changed names and hands several times. Many of the locals wanted to see a return to the old-style cafe that had existed there years before and was an icon of its time (Reese's Cafe). Enter Ed and Kathi Rule.
Some of our favorite family recipes have been turned into our daily specials that we make fresh each day. What's your favorite day? Kathi's grandpa, Ferd Filger, was the first mayor of Riverside, Missouri and a Texaco gas distributor. For several years, Ed and Kathi made their living owning a gas station and car wash and have always enjoyed collecting gas station related memorabilia which they now display in the restaurants.

Love this place and one of my favorite places to go for breakfast or brunch! They are always busy but the wait is almost always pretty quick. I've never had nothing but great service. The food is so good! I'm a cinnamon roll connoisseur and theirs are my favorite! They are huge and great to share with the table or eat on your own!

Jordan was our server and she may be the most brilliant, exceptional young lady ever to serve me at a restaurant. The cook was very kind and the food was delectable and the perfect temperature. The music was the most desirable volume and the decorations were not cluttered looking. My favorite dining experience ever.

Love the country omelet!! I've gotten it both times I've been because it's so good! My son loves their cookies, pies are good too. I had the banana split pie & my daughter had the apple pie. Love the hot sauce they serve and need to buy some more! My only issue was our server was doing a lot of coughing on our first visit, not okay especially since she wasn't wearing a mask & ya know..Covid

I don't know why people like this place so much. I have never been overly impressed, but haven't been their for a couple of years. Went 3 weeks ago, while in the neighborhood. terrible waitress, terrible service, but pot roast was good. Since I was going to be there the other day I went again, again bad service, out of pot roast, so ordered meat loaf, hash browns and cabbage. For one thing, their portions are SMALL, I don't know if its because they want you to order dessert or what. Cabbage good, took a bite of meat loaf, totally cold. How can you bring out a meat dish totally

Cole is an absolute delight. He is so helpful, friendly, wonderful and hardworking. I literally saw him drop what he was doing to run to help an elderly woman with the door. As we were seated, I noticed I had sat in grease and he immediately saw I had an issue and asked me how to help resolve it. He immediately wiped the table down for me! I know when I was running a restaurant I would have been EXTREMELY pleased to have an employee like him. He deserves to be recognized. He was working harder and definitely showing more customer service, hustle and dedication than ANYONE else in our line of vision

Came here for Sunday brunch with family and was not disappointed. Service was a bit slow, but to be expected with how busy it was near end of church. I got the pancake combo with sausage and a scrambled egg with strawberries. Strawberries looked like they had seen better days, but everything else was delicious. I loved their pancakes, they were both somehow fluffy and substantial. The eggs appeared to be cooked fresh to order. Delicious.

Corner Cafe is a home style restaurant for your entire family. It is suitable for all age groups. They also host larger groups if you call ahead. You have to try the home made rolls. It is a signature piece. The desserts are so good you will get lost in the many choices. My dad likes the blackberry cobbler and ice cream. Prices are better than reasonable for the food and service you get. By no means will you be dissapointed.

Corner cafe is one of our favorites, but not five stars with this visit. Service was excellent, water glasses were kept filled and short wait time for food even though the place was packed. Pot roast/potatoes were good but warm and not the usual hot meal. Hoping this was a fluke and will continue supporting this business. Prices are in-line with competing diners.

You want good breakfast, great price and nice dining experience. Here ya go! This is our go to breakfast spot and oh the cinnamon rolls. Mmmm. We have tried all other corner cafe locations and this bar far is the best we won't even go to the others. Oh and the dinner is good too ham and beans are like my grandma used to make!

You have to enjoy consistancy. Cold food, disappearing staff, wondering what you have to do to get something to drink or even silverware. I could see our order in the window and when Cayla was called on it the tossed it in the microwave. Then it became oh look it is fresh out of the kitchen. Nothing like a 15.00 chicken fried chicken hockey puck and an open faced turkey sandwich that tasted like it cane out of a hospital kitchen.

Horrible experience from start to end. Long wait to start, and messy table and floor. Then all of our silverware had hard crusty food on it. We got replacement silverware, which came with food on the as well. Then, our waitress constantly talked over us and never let us finish a sentence which made our orders all wrong. Then the food itself came out and was poorly cooked on top of everything. We attempted to order dessert, which was met with more interruptions and unfinished sentences. We dined in this evening. I had fried chicken and my partner had chicken fried chicken. He declared his "only ok" and my fried chicken was tough. Neither of us cared for the mashed potatoes and my Mac & cheese was congealed. The rolls were decent. The pie was the best part of the meal; he had chocolate cream and I had strawberry. We decided we'd stick to breakfast next time, which has always been great. Our server was very friendly and helpful. No complaints there!

Love this place. Such a family oriented feel. They were busy but efficient on getting people in and out. I had the chicken fried chicken with fries and Mac and cheese. My friend had the BLT sandwich. My chicken was moist juicy and tasty. Mac and cheese was homemade to perfection. The BLT is reported to be top of the line and plenty fulfilling. Great service, great food, great atmosphere.

Corner Cafe has been somewhat of a staple for me over the years. I worked near the original location in Riverside for years so I ate there off/on. The food was usually good and consistent.
I went a few days ago and ordered liver/onions, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage and greens. The meal was just ok. The liver/onions was awful and the mashed potatoes were not hot. The cabbage was good, greens were edible.
I was disappointed, but maybe just an off day. I realize we are returning to dining out from the pandemic and employees are few in number these days. I'll definitely give it another

Great breakfast. Server (Patty) was very helpful and attentive. A busy place but we were seated quickly and i know many restaurants are having trouble finding enough cook staff, our food came out quickly. I splurged and took a months worth of "cheats" to try the cinnamon bun and was not disappointed. I'll stop by just for the baked goods and cinnamon buns next time i come through town. Keep up the good work.

Went on a Saturday at 3. After being assured of a 15 minute wait, it took nearly an hour to seat our group of 3. We had a wonderful server. I can't stress that enough - she was great.
She took our orders and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. I ordered Fried Chicken, my brother ordered Chicken Fried Chicken, and his girlfriend ordered an omelette.
The plates were piping hot but the food was stone cold. When we inquired
