Carnation City Players was established by several theater minded persons from Mahoning, Columbiana and Stark counties in 1960 and was first known as the Tri-County Players. Their first production "The Man Who Came To Dinner" was presented at the Strand Theatre in Sebring, as were their next three productions in 1961 and 1962.
As many Alliance persons became involved in the group, the troupe moved its productions to the Rockhill Elementary School in Alliance. In 1972, they changed their name to the Carnation City Players to emphasize their place in the cultural resources of the Alliance Community. The City of Alliance presented the troupe with the opportunity to move into a renovated space at the old firehouse on E. Market Street in downtown Alliance.
