Electrolysis was founded in 1875 by Dr. Charles Michel, an ophthalmologist, who was experimenting with ways to remove painful ingrown eyelashes of his patients. He inserted a fine wire which was attached to a battery into the hair follicle and then released a small amount of current. HE found the current which flowed into the follicle destroyed the hair permanently.
Electrolysis is charged according to the length of the appointment time. The amount of time needed depends on a number of factors, most importantly the number of hairs to be removed. Since achieving permanent hair removal takes time, this allows the cost to be spread out over time also.
