Services
The development of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home, and Crematory fulfilled a long-held dream of Robert and Toni Byrd. Established in 1994, Sunset Cemetery had its first burial in April of that year. Much has changed since then, but the emphasis on compassionate funeral planning at an affordable cost has not.
She was 66 years old. Don Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. She traveled all over the United States with her family while her father. For over two hundred years America has called on its young men and women to serve in the protection of the freedoms which we all hold dear. Some come home. Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day was first observed after the American Civil War. Observers would gather around the graves of fallen soldiers to clean and decorate those graves with flowers collected nearby.

I honestly cannot say enough about the professionalism of Sunset Memorial Park, Funeral Home. Loosing my father in August, and living in a different State I had no idea what funeral home to choose. From the moment they received my father, to me arriving and making all the plans for his cremation ...there was nothing but kindness and professionalism that went into the care of my father and the mourning I was experiencing. Once I was back home they ensured that I had all the proper documents, checked on me, and made it clear I could call at anytime with any questions going forward. Just recently

Amazing people to help you in your time of need with care and understanding. Mr Robert Byrd and staff made so many good things happen for us to make my, husband’s funeral meaningful, special and touching. They welcomed us with tender care, patience and expert advice. Even went the second and third mile to accomplish the ‘special transport’ to Ft Mitchell for military honors. Our whole family is forever grateful. We’ll never forget you. Robert Fuller Family

I highly recommend Sunset Memorial Park. They have beautiful, peaceful gardens. Korey was extremely helpful with planning the service and her assistance was very much appreciated. The service was beautiful and the staff were wonderful. Anyone saying otherwise was clearly not attending the same funeral. There was no rudeness from the staff, and the staff were very accommodating despite the untrue comments from Mrs. Knight. Thank you.

One of my father's last wishes was to have a Military Service and have his final resting place be with others who also bravely served this country. Sunset Memorial Park, Korey and the staff went above and… beyond to fulfill his wish. They're compassion, professionalism and attention to detail were above reproach. They have my heart felt gratitude for all their help and support during this difficult time. Even through my tears I could see my father smiling down. Thank you for all that you do.

On Saturday August 29th I buried my Grandfather at Sunset Memorial and the staff was wonderful and considerate with the family, please disregard Cindy Knight’s review as she was not sitting on the reserved… family side of the service so the staff had no idea she was apart of my Grandfathers family. As most people know family can be difficult and I apologize to Korey and her staff and Sunset as they show extreme patience, understanding and compassion. I know my Grandfather will rest well under your care. Thank you and I will always recommend Sunset.

I recently retired as the secretary of a large 1100 member church at which I worked for 15 years. I have been a part of some very large funerals, some of which included such people as Amy Grant and Vince Gil and I have never seen a funeral home or director be so rude and disrespectful to the family members. The Pastor, funeral director and staff… always speaks to everyone and learns who the family members are, learns about the family and comforts those that needs it and provides assistance to those in need. However in my recent experience with your facility and staff at my father's service

I am very satisfied with the service and personal consideration of all family members and friends. We were greeted with kindness and respect. Mikala was professional with her attitude and generous with her time as she explained everything in detail and answered all questions that we had. We appreciate the loving kindness in which we were treated.

This funeral home made such a horrific time for our family such a great memory. The staff and Mr. Byrd were amazing. They exceeded my expectations which are extremely high for my sweet grandfather. I could not have asked for a thing done differently. Thank you so much for taking care of our family and most importantly JT. !

Robert and his staff were incredible during the passing of my father n law. Not only were they extremely helpful in making arrangements but they also went out of their way to help us make it possible to have a full military honor service for him. We are forever thankful for their compassion and assistance during a very difficult time. The chapel, the grounds and the service we received from Sunset just can not be matched in the Dothan area.

Mr. Byrd and all the staff made everything about this incredibly difficult process easier. They have went above and beyond to help us in any way that they could and we are so thankful for their kindness, support, and compassion that they have extended to us. The entire facility is so beautiful, and the outside grounds and cemetery is picturesque. We couldn't have picked a better place.

I have been meaning to write a review for a very long time but, one gets caught up in every day life. My wife had her mother buried about over a year or two ago at Sunset Memorial. Mr. Robert Byrd, his family and all of the staff are very caring. We never felt pressured in anyway while conducting the burial arrangements. Mr. Byrd made sure to take the time and address all of our concerns. He is a truly sincere caring person who will treat your love one with the dignity and respect they so deserve. The Sunset Memorial grounds are uplifting and gives you a sense of inner peace. Sunset Memorial greatly

We lost our mother Rhonda Hix in 2008. I knew Robert Byrd when he had previously owned Byrd Funeral Home in Dothan. He handled my grandmothers funeral in 1997 with such compassion that I knew he’d do my mothers the same way. I was not disappointed.
From the planning to the visitation to the graveside service Robert and his staff exhibited the utmost compassion to my family and I will never forget the compassion shown to us during this difficult time.
Thank you Robert!

Absolutely amazing on every level. Our daughter was stillborn at 38 weeks and they handled her with so much care. Every staff member we came in contact with was wonderful. Andrew set up a beautiful viewing of… our sweet Elizabeth before she was cremated. The grounds are beautiful and so peaceful. I was so worried about my daughter when she was taken from the hospital to Sunset, but when we pulled up the next afternoon to plan her arrangement we were immediately at peace. I never thought we'd be recommending a funeral home, but we have nothing but good things to say about Sunset and the Byrd

My son should not be here. Dimetrice Cortez Davis was born with multiple disabilities. Yet he was denied disability benefits for many years. Without it, he could only receive limited medical attention. I maxed out credit cards and worked many hours to make sure he had his medicine and doctor visits. I was working when he had a seizure and passed away. If someone you love has seizures, make sure they are NEVER left alone. My heart breaks every day. If only I had been there.
