Metro Hardwoods is an urban sawmill located on the border of the Stockyard and the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhoods of Cleveland OH. We manufacture quality kiln dried hardwood lumber and industrial lumber and timbers. Our lumber primarily comes from trees being cut down in Cleveland and the nearby suburbs. Many of these trees would ordinarily be turned into mulch, chopped up for firewood, or just be sent to the landfill. We step in and turn the trees into lumber suitable for everything from fencing to fine furniture.

Dean is a true gentlemen and one of the hardest working guys in Cleveland. His knowledge is encyclopedic, and he truly cares about his clientele and the lumber inside of the neighborhood trees. The finest hardwoods at an unbelievable price. I once stuffed my car to the brim with Hickory, Cherry, Box Elder, Cottonwood, Black Walnut etc for 75$. When I drove away I was shocked how much I got. Dean truly cares and he works his bones off to make friends with you and give you a crazy good deal on some beautiful hardwood that you CANNOT buy in stores.

Dean perfectly illustrates that mix of inspiration, humility, and stubborn insistence on making the most of what's around that makes Cleveland a magical place for me. He's a unique guy. I think he works 72-hour shifts or some madness. He's likeable and trustworthy, and he clearly cares about his craft.
The warehouse is similar to so many Cleveland places: it's a big boxy building with an unwelcoming, squeaky-hinged door that opens into a vast storeroom of logs, lumber, and dreams-in-progress stacked from floor to distant ceiling. Off to the side is a climate-controlled room

Could not fulfill my order due to facility problems and advised me to find another source. Therefore, I cannot recommend this place to anyone who wants a job done in a timely and efficient manner.
Didn't respond to my voicemail and emails after meeting with Dean in person and placing an order. Their prices were reasonable... and that's why they get one star. But you can't sell a product that you are unable to produce.
Stay away from this place and avoid the stress.

This place is glorious. They take trees that would otherwise be reduced to chips and turn them into fantastic slabs/boards. Dean, the saw master, really likes interesting grains in wood. He's also great to talk with. He also sells his work for seriously reasonable prices.
Go and check it out. I had no idea how huge the place is and how much super quality lumber they make until stepping foot in the saw mill. Again, amazing prices too.
