If you took one of those small Manhattan bodegas the way they were in like the 1990s, before the advent of nutrition, threw some high quality produce there and top notch employees with heart by God and through an even more gourmet items and your basic necessities, that would be this place.

It's a very friendly place. The customer service is very good. The people are very respectful that work there.

Small town grocery... nice people. Store has a feel that it's always on the verge of being dirty, but not quite. Meat department has good quality. I've heard the bakery is good, but I can't speak to that myself. If you have a hankering for something deep fried and greasy, the deli won't disappoint

If visiting here I recommend you try the maple bar is one of the number one most sold Donuts in Helena and you can only get the best from vans

Friendly and helpful staff. Good buys on groceries. I am looking forward to my Prime Rib Christmas dinner from Van's!

I cash my payroll checks here with out any issues. Great grocery store, a little expensive but great service.

Locally owned grocery store. The meat, in-store bakery, service deli, and produce are top notch! I love that there are workers who have been there for decades, who know you too and even remember my grandparents, who passed away in 1994. They must treat employees well to keep them so long.
Ordered a prime rib roast from their meat department (which regularly stocks Montana sourced meats) for Christmas 2020. They cut the ribs and tied it at no charge, and the price per pound was significantly less than $10. It was delicious and tender and perfect.

I'm so disappointed. I've been going to Vans for years and lately I've had SO many bad experiences. In just the last one year I've found a hair in my ground meat, had a horrible, almost scary experience with one of the check out employees, and straight up AWFUL experiences since, and relating to COVID. Masking, social distancing and employee compliance in store has completely grossed me out and I will not go back. So sad as this is a local staple and small business of Helena. I'd much rather support them than a chain, but I can no longer

So I am in Van's about once a week for a variety of items and have never had an issue with them before. Oh how today changed that. I was on the phone with my mom before I realized I needed to pick up two items, so I stopped by Van's to get them. I was in Sharon's, an older woman, lane. Because I only had two items and had my money ready, I didn't think it was necessary to get off the phone completely with my mom. LISTEN, I was a checker for 4 years in high school and I've had many people come thru my line on the phone...it was only ever an issue if the person on the phone

Vans is like an old shoe very comfortable and I shop there often. Their meat department is by far the best meat department in Helena. The staff are like old friends. I wish that there bagging service were better... for their prices I would think that there should be an offer to help get your groceries out to the car. One of the baggers (just him) looks like he's looking for an excuse not to help and he's been there for years so I don't know what thats about. You might wonder why I still gave this four stars... It's because Paula and her staff on the whole are amazing.

Needed a quick dinner, deli was shutting down almost everything put away but they took the time to help me and bring the chicken back out.

But that parking lot is a whole different story. If you have a nice vehicle and do not wish to be dinged, I suggest parking a block away.

Decent products and prices but staff is behind on the times I cashed a payroll check there a few months back and had some legal proceedings that required a copy of the check I had the transaction number date time amount payer payer and bank account routing and account number I just needed a copy of the check they explained there systems didn't keep a copy that ok have your accounting manager call your bank give them this info and they can print a copy of the check deposit that will include an image " o we don't do that once it goes to the bank it's out of our hands" ok

I love this place. I could go to other stores, but it is just not the same. They have all the best produce, meat, cheeses. My favorite.

I love...LOVE this store! Home town feel. Wide aisles. Super friendly staff. Deli food is good. Produce awesome. Meats wonderful. The only complaint is the parking lot, but it's not going to reduce the stars for that.

Great deli very clean store with laid back friendly staff. The owner takes super great care of the staff. They have items that are hard to find and the produce is wonderful as is the wine selection

Perfect. Van's just added a sandwich case next to the deli. This area has limited fast food. I had a ham and cheese wrap that was fresh, perfect and a bargain at $3.99. The fried chicken at the deli is better than Albertson's. The produce is usually better too.

The store is conveniently located and I usually go there after a workout at Crossroads across the street. The employees are friendly and usually the checkout is fast mainly because I shop at 9 or 10 pm.
But I only get certain items there like their chicken packs, nuts, some veg/fruit, wine, sparking water and yogurt typically. Otherwise their prices are higher than Safeway and much higher than Wal Mart. Albertson's about the same but I won't shop there.
So 3 stars it gets.
They added an organic section in their produce but if I want that I can go to Real Foods. They also have a few bulk

I love the home town feel. It is a little more expensive than walmart but you have to love the people. If you bave problems or need help, ask for Sara. Sara is mu favorite!
