A popular flooring favorite in the USA and a beloved flooring found in homes throughout NSW and QLD Australia. Growing in a relatively small geographical distribution area in southeastern Australia, our Australian Koa has all the appealing attributes one can expect: beautiful color, beautiful grain.
We supply pre-finished and unfinished solid Australian Cypress flooring in a variety of widths, all solid 3/4 thick, tongue and groove, end-matched. Minimum order 400 sq ft. The Species - Callitris Glauca: Australian Cypress is a relatively small trunk tree that is native to inland Australia, in areas of New South wales and Southern Queensland.
Australian "Koa" flooring (Acacia Melanoxylon), a.k.a. Australian Blackwood or Tasmanian Blackwood, grows in a few areas of South Eastern Australia but is mainly sourced from Tasmania. This high-end flooring is golden brown, quite often showing darker brown bands. Occasional reddish streaks are also characteristic.
Milled from antique wood salvaged from historic industrial buildings in the American south. Lifestyle grade: 40% heart: flooring with bold grain and knots that suit a more relaxed and showy looking floor. Rustic grade: 20% heart: flooring with very bold grain and knots, and tool marks including nail and bolt holes.
The species: Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) grows in only a small area of south western Australia, so it is a highly prized wood resource unique to Australia. Jarrah: The milling process to produce flooring reveals the gorgeous colors of the red heartwood and the slightly paler sapwood. For homeowners, this hardwood provides additional desirable benefits of termite resistance, water resistance, and being a really hard, long wearing wood.
