Vilas County Cabins (Woodlands Resort) is located on the North shore of beautiful Plum Lake in Sayner, WI. The resort features one of the best beaches in northern Wisconsin with over 200 feet of sandy shoreline. Nestled in tall pines, the resort offers a quiet, relaxed atmosphere with cottages that have been completely modernized for comfort and convenience.
Besides being a premium water sport area in the summer, the resort provides unrivaled opportunities for fishing, color gazing or hunting in the fall, and winter is a busy time for snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing. We have spent one or more weeks at the Woodlands every summer for the past 30 years and counting.

Services
The Woodlands Resort has been a passion for our family for three generations. My father (Hillerian Hess) was a guest at the resort in 1982, and after discussing with his wife Karel Hess, they decided to purchase the Woodlands in 1983. Hillerian and Karel were gracious hosts who stayed at the resort June through August every summer, and truly enjoyed spending time and getting to know their guests.
Discover all the nooks, bays, and islands around Plum Lake, or find Star Creek and explore the neighboring Star Lake. Three one-person and one two-person kayaks, paddles and life jackets included, are available for rent. Set out on your adventure right from our sandy beach. Lay out in the summer sun or enjoy a swim in the crystal clear water out to the Woodlands raft.
