Welcome to Ocean Waves Campground, we're glad you've taken the time to visit our website and learn about Hatteras Islands finest campground. Perhaps our best attribute is our small size and friendly operation. With only 68 full hook-up campsites, we're definitely not big, but that means a more peaceful and relaxing visit since there aren't as many guests.

And since this is a family operated business, you'll get very friendly and personal service from from us. From our well stocked camp store, to the sparkling water in our swimming pool. Your stay here will be enjoyable and relaxing. Whether you want to take a quiet stroll on the beach, just grab a lawn chair and relax under the shade of the trees, or perhaps try your luck doing some surf fishing, we offer it all.

This was our first time visiting the Outer Banks and We could not have picked a more perfect place to camp! Campsites had pads, water sewer and electric also Bath houses were well maintained. Camp store (run by Barbara) was well stocked. Beach is at the end of the campground and permits are available for fires on the beach. No campfires at sites. We met some of the most friendly people there. We hopefully will return soon. Thank you for making our Bucket list trip so very memorable😊😊

Super quiet at night. Not all sites are shaded, bathhouse were clean. Beach is just over the dune. We're tent campers and fit right in among the RV's. Will go back.

We just left camping 5 nights at Ocean Waves in a wonderful shady spot on the beach! Check in was a breeze and office staff were very friendly!
I was a little worried after reading some other reviews , but we had no issues at all! Perfect spot for us to park & drive to other places we wanted to see in the area. Our spot, #20, was nice & wide, no neighbors right on top of you and most of all we loved the shade! I’m guessing 1/3 to 1/2 of the spots have shade & they are the wider spots. It was less than a 5 min walk down to the beach. Camping spots nearer the beach do not have shade & seemed closer

This is a great family campground still run by the family. My little girl hangs out over there and plays with their grand daughter, and I have no reservations at all about allowing her to spend time over there playing. Nice People!!

We have been coming to Ocean Waves Campground since I was a little boy (about 20 years) and we would would never go anywhere else!
The staff is very friendly and the campground has all the amenities you would need! A nice pool and gift shop (with arcade games), a dog area, updated bathrooms with toilets and showers, and a short quick access point to the beach!
If you’re looking for a place to camp out, look no further! But make sure you get your registration in early, they fill up fast!

The staff was great and so helpful. We had car troubles and could move our travel trailer when we were scheduled to leave. They made arrangements so that we could stay longer until we had a way to move our rv. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff.

It has been a few years since we have been here. Every year hurricanes always cancelled our vacation. Not this year we came a few weeks early. It was a great vacation 9days of relaxation. The campground is perfect size and everyone is so friendly. Thank you for a great vacation.

I am writing this review hoping that it will help someone else. Our family has spent the past 20+ summers living and, at times, working in the Tri-Villages. We have always stayed at Camp Hatteras where we have had a membership. Our membership ended in September 2020, so we decided to look into other campgrounds in the area. We drove through Ocean Waves and thought we would give it a try. We found out they offer monthly off-season sites and decided to book a site for October. When we called to make our reservation, we explained that we are teachers and would need a good internet connection in order

With only 68 spots, this campground is far less busy than the ones next door. Bathhouses were relatively clean and maintained daily. Each space has plenty of room to set up your site and park a car. Some spots are shaded. Beach access is on property, but make sure and wear your sandals! Hot sand, no boardwalk, so it's difficult to pull a wagon with all your items up the path over the dunes. If you are physically able to walk, this is a great place for families with kids. Love the fact there's a 5 mile an hour speed limit on the grounds. Go and enjoy, it's the beach! We would definitely book here

This would have been a 5 star review for the price. It is ocean front, older but clean bath houses and nice quiet neighbors. The manager/owner has some very real people issues. There is a strict 5 mph speed limit in the park which I respect. My husband came off of HWY 12 at 35 mph and did not slow down quickly enough. The manager followed him to our camper (unbeknownst to him) and commenced to scream at him. We are fine with rules, warnings and apologies but not loud public displays of insanity. The “neighbors” came to see if we were okay. Other campers saw her doing the same thing to others
