When a company reaches the century mark, there is cause to celebrate. In 2004, Huntington Steel celebrated 100 years. From the horse and buggy days, through the Great Depression, the 1937 Ohio River flood and two World Wars, the employees of Huntington Steel witnessed the full breadth of the 20th Century.
James A. Diddle, the company founder, opened the doors to Huntington Boiler Works in a shop located on 11th Street on the banks of the Ohio River in Huntington, WV. "The direction of the company was boiler repair and manufacturing of small 20 hp boilers mainly used in the dry cleaning business" recalls Sterling Hall, 4th generation owner and great-grandson of the founder.
