Garden City Sanitation's history is based exclusively in California's San Francisco Bay Area and dates back to the late 1800s through its affiliate, South San Francisco Scavenger, when garbage was collected using horses and carts. Independently owned and operated, Garden City Sanitation (GCS) partners collectively embody generations of solid waste and recycling experience.

Services
Mixed recycling and yard waste collection are provided in these districts by two other hauling companies (California Waste Solutions and GreenWaste Recovery, respectively). An additional hauling company (Green Team of San Jose) serves residents in District B. Garden City Sanitation does not collect recycling or yard waste and does not serve businesses and multi-family residential complexes.
