Bankruptcy is not a badge of shame. Bankruptcy is a way to draw a line in time and say, "I've had enough!" What you need to know is that Bankruptcy is not an end, It's a beginning. Bankruptcy is a fresh start. It is a way to begin again with a fresh slate. Bankruptcy won't make your credit score drop to zero.
But it will take a toll. You can bounce back after bankruptcy. After bankruptcy, you should pick yourself up dust yourself off and start climbing up again. We will have suggestions for you about how you can do just that. The credit counselors will have suggestions and resources that will show you how to rebuild your credit.

Chapter 7 is the most common type of bankruptcy for the average person. It is always the best, fastest and cheapest route to go. It works well if the debtor has few assets and a lot of consumer debt like credit cards or medical bills. It is, however, a liquidation. The Trustee could take and sell some of your assets.
Chapter 13 is awesome if you need to stop foreclosure on your house or stop a repossession of your car. It is also a great option if you do not qualify for Chapter 7. Debtors in Chapter 13 must have regular income, and the Chapter 13 payment plan normally ranges from 3 to 5 years. The Debtor may finish their Chapter 13 plan in less than 3 years if all the creditors have been paid in full.
Some consumers never file bankruptcy when they should have a long time ago. Others let the credit hounds get to them and look to bankruptcy before they are really "ripe." For those consumers in the middle, consumers realize that either debt consolidation or bankruptcy may be the right choice form them.
There are two classes that are required. There are many credit counseling agencies that are approved by the Eastern District of Missouri Bankruptcy Court and we would be happy to provide you with a list of them. We use one credit counseling company that does both classes over the internet so that the debtor will be able to do the class on their own time at any time of the day or night.
