Specializing in Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, & Entrepreneurs. It's hard to pick a therapist from a website, which is why I've made this informational video to introduce myself and how I work to help you decide if I'm the right therapist for you.
If you are seeking treatment in the Baltimore area for borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, or depression-or if you are an entrepreneur-you might want to consider seeing a doctor who specializes in these areas, as I do.Originally trained in the psychoanalytic tradition, I've always maintained a commitment to eclecticism-using what works.

Patients (or their family members) often seek me out to learn whether they have borderline personality disorder. If you're asking "am I borderline?" there's a good chance you identify with some of symptoms listed below, even if you don't meet full diagnostic criteria, and may benefit from working with a specialist.
From research and clinical experience we know there are a variety of therapeutic and somatic treatments, often times in combination, that can be effective with depression. Part of the art of treatment is to draw freely on all these approaches. We now know that meditation reduces activity in a part of the brain called "the default mode network" that is overactive in depressed people.
After the publication of the Hypomanic Edge, I gave dozens of talks around the country to groups of entrepreneurs, CEOs, and venture capitalists, and in every talk there was what I called "the eureka moment" when, three sentences into the talk, their eyes would go wide, and they would suddenly realize that they and/or virtually every entrepreneurs they had ever encountered have this mildly manic temperament.

I saw to Dr. Gartner after a series of traumatic events to receive proper psychological counseling & diagnosis. I cycled through a number of psychologists and found Dr. Gartner to be the best one to stick with because he isn't concerned with just seeing as many patients as possible for financial gain and therefore isn't unhelpfully agreeable like most psychologists. He really knows what’s up!

Dr. Gartner is one of my most cherished colleagues. A national figure in the evaluation and treatment of bipolar disorder and borderline disorder, he is a best-selling author of two leading books, one about the role of bipolar disorder in America history and the other a psychobiography of Bill Clinton. I have referred to him many patients over the years, including people of high-level vocational accomplishments who are struggling with mood disorders.

Dr. Gartner is a colleague whom I've known for many years. He is an accomplished & respected clinician; thorough & experienced in diagnostics and treatment of a variety of psychiatric disorders. He is compassionate, easy going and very well liked by both patients and staff. Dr. Gartner has also published and edited several books which have garnered national acclaim. I gladly refer patients, family & friends to Dr. Gartner knowing that they receive the highest standard of care.

I have never seen Dr. Gartner, but have seen the petition. I would however, on behalf of all my family, like to thank him for his extreme bravery. That goes for all the health care professionals that put their country first, and themselves second to sign this petition and have to put up with what you're putting up with now. Grateful!

Dr. Gartner is caring, respectful, an advocate for patients with mental illness and has extensive knowledge in his field. Unfortunately, mental illness topics need more educational awareness for the general population at the community level to understand what the doctor already knows through experience he has gained over his career span..

Like most of these people writing reviews, I have not seen Dr. Gartner as a patient. I would, however, like to commend him for his courage. Donald Trump's mental status will deteriorate if he does not step down. We should care about Mr. Trump the way we should care about all human beings. He does not see, nor understand, his illness. His illness was evident to me early on. I hope he gets the help he needs.
