Veterans of the US armed forces returning from war and long-term service face many difficulties including: transitioning into the civilian sector, unstable family dynamics, and the effects of physical and mental disabilities. The US agriculture sector is also facing many problems, especially small/family farms which suffer from an aging population.
The abandonment of traditional practices and breeds further exacerbate the negative effects of pollution and industrialization. Many veterans see themselves as a potential resource to replace the aging farm population. However, no programs currently exist that provide family participation, flexible individualized plans, or a whole farm concept.

Services
Little Farms for Veterans (LFV) affords opportunities to veterans and their families to grow together through education, training, and shared experiences in sustainable agriculture. LFV provides a setting where veterans and their families develop a flexible individualized plan that focuses on traditional agricultural practices.
