Dr. Odom received his graduate degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School located in the world renowned Texas Medical Center in Houston Texas. The Dental School offered an offsite rotation program located on the South Texas Border in Brownsville. Dr. Odom was one of a select few students for this rotation to treat children with dental disease and help educate them on good oral health.
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
For more information concerning children's dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. It is very important to maintain the health of the primary teeth. Neglected cavities can and frequently do lead to problems which affect developing permanent teeth.
Primary teeth, or baby teeth are important for (1) proper chewing and eating, (2) providing space for the permanent teeth and guiding them into the correct position, and (3) permitting normal development of the jaw bones and muscles.Primary teeth also affect the development of speech and add to an attractive appearance.

Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen, or what you may know as laughing gas, to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the child's nose, allowing them to relax, but without putting them to sleep.
If the procedure was in the lower jaw the tongue, teeth, lip and surrounding tissue will be numb or asleep. If the procedure was in the upper jaw the teeth, lip and surrounding tissue will be numb or asleep. Often, children do not understand the effects of local anesthesia, and may chew, scratch, suck, or play with the numb lip, tongue, or cheek.

Went here as a kid. Now 19 haven’t been to a dentist since this place because I am traumatized. Was strapped to the table every time I went. Asked for my mom and they would always say she was coming but never even told her to come back in the room, did not let her in. The assistants would just be dancing in the room with the tools while he is working on you. My lip and inside of my nose were cut somehow when I went there. I thought it was normal and finally told my mom and did not go back after. Would rate in the negatives if I could. Horrifying

Sent my 21 year old pregnant niece with my nephew for a dental appointment, only because I had a procedure done Friday. The staff refused my niece the use of the bathroom facilities. Will not be returning here for that reason. I have colon recital cancer and holding it isn’t an option for me, Im guessing I wouldn’t be allowed to use the facilities either if I would have been at the office today. So I would have to use the restroom in the waiting room on myself because I can’t hold my bowels.
