The Watson Building was built in 1927 by Norman Baker, Owner-Manger of Baker Furniture. The Watson family took over the location during the 1940s and the building was home to Watson Furniture until soon after Lubbock's 1970 tornado. The current owners purchased the property in 1992 and the restoration and renovation of this Lubbock landmark has been an ongoing project for the past 25 years.
Since 1992, The Watson Building has served as an elegant and historic venue for all types of events in downtown Lubbock. With a rental fee of only $3,000 this package includes 12 hours of building access, free parking downtown, and concierge service for you and your event.

Services
Later in 1928, due to the craftsmanship of the building, it became a Montgomery Ward retail outlet, and was Lubbock's first department store at the 13th Street location but decided to open one block to the north on Broadway instead. The building was then immediately leased to the Groce family, which operated Groce Furniture through the Depression years.
The building is yours from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. *If you would like to use the Watson Building to set-up, rehearse or decorate the day before, we ask for $300 for a minimum of two hours. Additional hours can be added for simply $100/hour. There is also a security deposit of $500 which is returned to you within 30-days following your event as long as there are no damages, spills, broken furniture, curtains harmed or removed, etc.

I officiated a wedding here for the first time I've occurred 100+ weddings and I must say, this was one of the nicer babies. A lot of that is attributed to the couple though as when you rent the space, it doesn't come with anything more than tables and chairs. Very rich history in the building though...ornate attention to detail at every turn! Great place.

An iconic "loft style" location, with lots of room. Already quite nice with great AV set up around every wall, state of the art HVAC, and seperate attached kitchenette. Can be done up to be quite spectacular. Unique in that the reception hall is huge, and because "The Grand" is upstairs, theatre style entry from the stairs can be taken advantage of too. Perfect to hold an business presentation, wedding shower, or any event situated on the rustic red brick roads in beautiful downtown Lubbock.
