Angels Theatre Company creates engaging theatre to promote artistic growth, foster community relationships, and raise social awareness. The Nebraska Arts Council, a State Agency, has supported this arts event through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. An encouraging group of playwrights who work together to support each other's work from inception to production! Playwrights are encouraged to bring short pieces of work (max.10 pages) to be read and receive feedback. Feedback can be anything you want it to be, from "Do these characters seem distinct?" to "How does this make you feel?" Playwrights can also opt out of receiving feedback; sometimes we just want to hear our work out loud!
An audience favorite, Solo Tales and Ales is a series of first-draft monologues, performed without direction. Angels playwrights hand over their precious scripts to Angels actors and let them run with them! In a non-pandemic world, they'd be performed open mic style at a bar. In 2021, they're performed at home and streamed on our new YouTube channel.
Shadows & Light: Untold Stories is a year-long partnership project of Families Inspiring Families and Angels Theater Company designed to lift and empower the voices of people in our community through the creative and transformative process of turning personal narratives into live theater.
