Hearing loss is often due solely from the aging process, leading to problems understanding conversations in noisy background situations or when listening to someone at a distance. There is growing knowledge of a connection between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia. It appears that auditory centers in the brain change when not stimulated, leading to memory loss and eventual confusion.
Dizziness or balance problems can affect all age groups but is more common in the elderly. Symptoms can range from feeling woozy, spinning, or light-headedness, to falling, veering, or feeling off-balance. It strikes about half the population at some point in our lives. Dizziness can be caused by other medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or can even be a side effect of medications.

Elizabeth is great, I was unsure if I had hearing problems. She recommend a hearing aid for my left ear and made the world of difference. Really a game changer for me. Thank you Elizabeth.

I stopped by County Hearing and Balance Waterford office recently for a free hearing evaluation. Was told by the audiologist Elizabeth Christian that I need hearing aids. She offered to order a pair for $4000. She said my insurance would cover the cost. But I wanted to try a pair before buying. Apparently she only got one sample in the whole offiice. One that's not even working properly. Because after she adjusted it and I inserted in my left ear, it made loud shrieking noise. My ear hurted for hours. Not a very pleasant experience.
