Services
With locations in Worcester and Marlborough, MA, our practice is proud to serve patients from central Massachusetts and the MetroWest area. As a trained and experienced periodontist, Dr. Akram Rafla provides treatments to eradicate periodontal disease, as well as implant procedures for long-lasting dental restorations.
She attended Becker College, where she received a bachelor's degree in business and design. She has a passion for dentistry and enjoys helping our patients set up the treatments that they need. Myssi also helps our practice to run smoothly and efficiently by making sure our team has everything needed to perform successful treatments.
After Dr. Rafla has completed the active phase of periodontal treatment, your periodontal disease will be under control. The initial stage of treatment for periodontal disease is usually a thorough cleaning that may include scaling or root planing. When recession of the gingiva occurs, the body loses a natural defense against both bacterial penetration and trauma.
Dr. Rafla attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, earning a Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree in 1990. In 1993 he completed a specialty certification in periodontics. Dr. Rafla also interned at the University of South California School of Dentistry, where he received the recognition of chief resident.
At our Marlborough, MA facility, we are pleased to offer high-quality, personalized care within a comfortable environment. Dr. Rafla and his team provide both periodontal and implant services using the modern technology at our Marlborough, MA office. With a reception area full of amenities, spacious treatment rooms, and attentive staff members, our practice allows patients to feel relaxed before, during, and after their consultation or procedure.

Would I recommend Dr Rafla? Of course! I have already recommended him many times. His offices, Marlborough and Worcester, are clean and up-to-date; but it's his skill, his personality and his staff that really set him apart from others.
If implants sound prohibitively expensive, consider my experience. I've spent far more on other dental 'solutions' that ended in failure - money wasted.
Implants, though, have provided permanent, trouble-free teeth. Other dentists have commented on his skill and his use of the best materials.

Dr Rafla and his team, did an outstanding job I can not even believe how well my procedure went after years of pain and fear of surgery I put off having many teeth extracted and bone graphs and implants Dr Rafla was referred to me by Dr Stanley Levenson who I trust and respect he promised me I would be in the best of hands and Dr Rafla did exceptional work. I can honestly say it could not have gone better I had little to no swelling or bleeding and minimal to no pain. I am so pleased with how it went and how I feel one day later with no pain medication other than a little ice and Motrin. Thank you

This dentistry is one of the most highly professional and impact caring clinics I've had the opportunity to being a patient at. The staff's friendly disposition makes one feel at being with family. Dr. Akram Rafla is highly qualified with a character of selflessness embedded in a commitment to making his patient comfortable and relaxing.
I'm glad I found them.

I have been going to Dr Rafla's office in Worcester since he implanted a replacement tooth about six years ago. I also had gum augmentation performed two years ago. I see a hygienist twice a year not only to clean my teeth but to check on the status of my implant and gums. The office staff is efficient, the hygienists are wonderful, and Dr Rafla always stops in to perform a brief exam and to comment on any findings by the hygienist. This office is an outstanding one.

Dr Rafla, is a very competent professional care giver that ALWAYS, has his patient's well being in mind. The staff, is very polite and knowledgeable, and will assist you with any questions or concerns, about billing or payment methods.
Dr Rafla's services may be a bit more than other providers, but his results is well worth the extra pennies.

I was referred to Dr. Rafla by a friend who raved about his services. I needed an implant and was putting it off for awhile. I am so glad that I went to see Dr. Rafla. The office does not look like an office at all. It is so warm and welcoming. His assistants are very sweet and answered all my questions. Dr Rafla was so sweet, he answered all my questions, he did not rush me, and even went over different treatment options. After the consult/exam was done. I was checkout by his front desk staff and one of them even sat with me to go over my treatment options, my insurance benefits, and estimates

Had 2 implants done. First one failed and ruined the 1200 dollar crown in front.
Took ten months and had to do crown over. The implant cost 4500 dollars.
i then had the other front tooth done by Dr Rafla. Two years after examining the older implant it began to bleed and was loose. Rafla attempt to pull out the 'permanent with pliers
instead of a special tool designed to remove buried abutments. he wants to charge 500 to remove the broken buried abutment buried in my jaw. Another 4500 dollars to place another
one without the 1200 crown. Very greedy and negligent. Taking me to collections

I also agree with the other complaints about Dr Rafla being greedy. He spent 15 minutes doing my $3,000+ gum graft procedure and couldn't even be bothered to check me when I came in for my post op appointment. I called complaining about the pain and discoloration after one week of having the procedure and he still couldn't be bothered to even look at my gums. His young hygenist, who was very nice, asked Dr Rafla to check me but he was too busy to be bothered with me. He had already cashed my personal check so he was on to the next sucker I guess. Also I must tell you to check your

I was referred to Dr.Rafla by my dentist. Had all my xrays for him . He wasn't interested in them because he couldn't diagnosis my problem without doing his own xrays . He never told me the cost was $270 dollars. After 20 special xrays he comes in says u need deep scale cleaning which I've had done twice by another periodontist. Strange Dr Rafla was unable to diagnose my problem using my xrays that were taken a week before I saw him. I feel he is sneaky and all about money . I canceled all appointments with him. If you go to this doctor for treatment make sure you know what he

If you're looking for someone to overcharge you and not really provide the same service that other periodontists in town can and will proved, then Dr. Rafla's office is the place for you.
They charged more for a 20 minute consultation than other local Dr's and then don't credit it to you if you decide to go through with the procedure. Then to continue the insults, they'll charge you to release your records.
Greedy, much? I guess dentist's just don't make enough for this guy.
