At the Charleston Institute for Advanced Orthopedics (CIAO), our orthopedic surgeons care and work with you to engage physical activities that bring you joy. Sometimes physical discomfort is due to an injury. Sometimes it is caused by ordinary wear and tear. It's our job as orthopedic surgeons in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, to provide you with an accurate diagnosis and educate you about the range of advanced treatment options available.

Musculoskeletal is a big word for a good reason. Simply put, it applies to the system of ligaments, nerves, tendons, muscle and cartilage that stabilize the 206 bones in the adult body. Our job is to demystify the science for you and analyze the state of your musculoskeletal wellness. Once we have a clear understanding of your current issues and challenges, we can set goals and plan a course of action.
Services
When having your joint replacement surgery at CIAO, you are giving to those who share in your discomfort, yet do not have the option of surgical treatment. Our continued support of Walk Nicaragua, a non-profit, mission-based, medical outreach organization that provides total knee replacements and other orthopedic surgical services to the citizens of Nicaragua is just one of the many ways we give back.

Dr. Schutte and the rest of the era at CIAO are the best! And I’ve been around of the orthopedic block a time or two… i’m still walking on a 16-year-old left hip. Miraculous results. Better stop, Better stop; now I’m gushing.

I was told by a friend about this doctor. I took a 5 hour round trip twice to visit him and was so disappointed. I have a total knee replacement and I'm in severe pain. The first visit was no X-rays and a shot in my knee that wore off in 3 days. I was told by his nurse to return to only hear I have done all I can. I returned back home to see another doc. And he done his own X-rays and found I had looseness and scheduled a bone scan and blood work. Now I'm scheduled Nov. 14 , 2016 for revised knee replacement. The shocker of this is Dr. Schutte is this and many other doctors instructor. The doctor
