Sass Winery is located in the South Salem Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley. The hazy, warm days and cool nights of autumn help our grapes develop intense, complex layers of flavor and aroma that produce elegant, rich and expressive wines. We are all fully vaccinated and ready for you to drop by for tasting!

We have indoor and outdoor space, in sun or shade at comfortable tables that allow you to relax and enjoy the world-class view while sampling our world-class wines. Also, we are getting a lot of questions about our wines that took three gold medals and two silver at the Sommeliers Choice Awards. Free UPS Ground Shipping in U.S on All Wines from October through June (Please avoid the hot months so the wine will not be spoiled in transit).
Services
We aim to produce wines that are complex, elegant and balanced wines that eloquently reflect the terroir of the individual vineyards.

Because we grow grapes or purchase them from several vineyards each year, that expression of "terroir" (tasting in each bottle the place where the fruit grows, each with unique soils and drainage, sun exposure, elevation, microclimate and other vineyard practices: see this article for an interesting discussion or terroir) is particularly important.
Our estate Wild Winds Vineyard, in the South Salem Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley, spreads across 19.4 gently rolling acres. We have eight blocks planted for a total of 8.2 acres with a few more acres left to plant. The elevation ranges from about 500 feet at the bottom of the vineyard to about 570 feet at the top, near the winery building.
Adhering, again, to the idea that great wines are made in the vineyard and that we believe in minimal intervention in the winery.

Pinot Noir hand-picked and hand-sorted; fully destemmed; minimal sulfur additions; 2-5 day pre-fermentation cold soak; clones fermented/barreled separately; 5-8 different yeasts (including indigenous) used; temperature-controlled fermentation in 1-ton to 1 1/2-ton, open-top fermenters; 14-21 days crush to press; gentle press; punched down twice daily during fermentation; pumped only 2-3 times total; full malolactic fermentation; never fined or filtered; 10-28 months in French oak, between 10 percent and 50 percent new.
If you'd like to get a behind the scenes look at everything that goes on here at Sass Winery, follow us on Instagram @SassWinery or enjoy our Instagram steam below! The idea is to submerge the cap to increase skin-to-juice contact. Welcoming two new wines to the tasting room line up. We keep production small because the best wines are handmade, through a labor of love, passion, vision.

Loved this place!! Small, simple tasting area. Our host was awesome. And most importantly the wines were amazing. Hands down our favorite winery near Salem…and maybe in the whole valley.

Perfect introduction to the Willamette Valley! Unpretentious, small, independently owned family venture with great juice! The tasting room manager was awesome (we didn't get your name, sorry !!) explained just enough about each wine served and provided excellent recommendations for the rest of the day. When we come back to Willamette Valley, this will be our first stop!

Right across the highway from Willamette Valley Vineyards is the much smaller as less ela0borate Sass Winery. We have loved their wines at Walnut Hills Vineyards in Monmouth, as he is the winemaker for them also, but is operating separately under his own label here. Particioned Outdoor seating with heaters make for a private and cozy tasting. The reds are fabulous! We love their Pinit Noirs, and they are more reasonably priced than some. The whites are just ok in my opinion. But, the Famay was spectacular- we bought 2 bottles!

We had a delightful experience at Sass Winery. The gravel road was intriguing, and we were rewarded with lovely views and excellent wines to sample. We also enjoyed our chat about the wines and the vineyard. We will definitely be back.

Friendly service staff. Nice spacious outdoor tasting cabanas with fire places. Easy to find, just off the highway. Down to earth winery with no fancy-pancy stuff. Enjoy the scenery and good wine.

My husband and I stopped here on a recent trip to Oregon and absolutely LOVED it. The pinots were the best we sampled in the entire area. Enjoyed meeting the winemaker as well. Highly recommend. Keep up the good work guys. :D
