Join Bernina Educator Venitta McCall at A Different Touch presenting BERNINA Academy- Mystery Make. A 2-Day hands-on sewing experience learning new features and techniques in sewing, embroidery and quilting. We will be using the NEW 770 Plus, the 790 Plus and the 880 Plus. If you do not have a 770 Plus, a 790 Plus or an 880 Plus machines will be provided.
If you own one of the 3-machine you will bring your machine to class. A supply list will be provided if you own a machine. If you do not own a 770 Plus, 790 Plus or 880 Plus or own an older model Bernina, come and experience the new innovations in sewing. A machine will be provided for you.

At A Different Touch, in Chesapeake, Virginia, we are certified BERNINA technicians and authorized BERNINA sewing machine dealers. We offer a wide selection of 100% quality cotton fabrics for quilting, home decorating, garment construction and accessories. Our fabrics are cut in 1/8 yard increments and we will honor mail orders. We carry a variety of sewing notions and we will special order what you do not find in stock. We also carry a variety of quilting supplies, embroidery supplies, and Mettler & Isacord threads.
Electronic repairs are no longer supported, but mechanical repairs could be possible if there is stock available in our warehouse. Embroidery hoop If you would like your tensions set with a certain type of thread, please bring the thread with the machine and have it noted on the invoice. Otherwise, we use Mettler thread.
If you have a Bernina Stitch Regulator and want to learn more about it this is the class for you. Space is limited so register early. It has always been the policy of A Different Touch to pay for classes when you sign up for them. For a class to be offered during the daytime, there must be 3 students signed up and the class prepaid.

Got my Bernette b79 here. Later beefed up to a B480 Special Edition. I’m so happy with my machine and the owner of the business was there and gave me a extremely favorable trade in value for my bernette! I can’t wait for COVID to be over so I can go to the store and do some free sewing!

Staff was super helpful and went out of their way to help me as I figured out which machine was the right one for me. Kathleen even came in on her day off to help me when I picked up my machine and today (a week after I picked up my machine) called to give me a tip on a feature of the machine that she has been using that she thought would be helpful for my current project!

Went today to pick up my bernina that I had serviced. I haven't used my machine in a while and was talking to patty (hope I spelled your name correctly) and expressed that I could use a refresher course on the machine. She said if you have time I can do it now. I know she spent 30 minutes with me going over the basics of the machine from winding the bobbin to showing me all the important functions of the machine. I was genuinely impressed with her and just want her to know that her customer service was the best. A special thank you for your help.

My granddaughter and I stopped here looking for fleece. They didn't have any but have a wide array of cotton bolts. The lady that asked us if we needed anything was very helpful. I think she could tell I was kind of clueless about how to measure for what we need, etc, but that's ok. I am, lol. She was very nice and gave me an idea of what I need to look for and do elsewhere.

Went here to find a new sewing machine. The lady who helped me was friendly, knowledgeable and listened first to what I wanted a sewing machine to do. She then showed me the machine I ended up buying after she demoed it, answered all my questions and told me the differences between it and the next models up and down. No attempt to push me into anything. I had a great time and came away with all ny questions answered. Today I got some basic instruction at no additional cost from another lady who was also very good. Well I could go on, but suffice it to say, this was the right shop for me and both

I came looking for fabric for my son’s Halloween costume. The staff and even the other customers were extremely helpful. The associate shared her experience making a similar Batman costume and helped me pick out exactly what I needed. She obviously could tell I wasn’t a skilled haberdasher so she even gave me exact instructions on how to do what I was trying to accomplish, suggesting iron-on materials that made the job 1000 times easier and at a great price. Overall a great experience!
