Coach House Players
Coach House Players has been in operation in the same location since 1950. The company is unusual in its longevity and in its ownership of a building which is used for meetings, rehearsals, storage of theatrical materials, and public performances. The story of the acquisition of our home is quite a drama in itself.

It's a sort of fairy tale worthy of a book. There is a beautiful old building on Augusta Street in Kingston, which was used in times past as a home for horse-drawn coaches. Built about 1894, it was part of the large estate of the Coykendall family, who were probably of Dutch descent and pronounced their name "Kirkendall".

Coach House Players is the longest operating community theatre company in Ulster County, New York. Enjoyed the show. You're close to the stage so there are no bad seats. Ok for disabled.

I had no idea this community theater was in Kingston. It's a charming older building with a rather small stage and seating area. We had a great time!

I really enjoy the whole experience here. The choice if plays is usually good, and the actors try really hard. A very welcoming, friendly place to spend an evening.

I enjoyed the plays in which I was a part in the 1970's. My first role with this group was as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes in 1974 with Gene Heitzman, Bill LaVoie, Dorothy Scholl, Linda Quartell, and Terri Dwyer. It was a marvelous production, and I learned so much from this group. Linda, Gene, and I still stay in touch. Sadly, many have passed away. I haven't done any theater since the 1980's when I started teaching full time at a small college in Albany.

Coach House Players and theater is a wonderful place to perform in. The stage is intimate and both the audience and cast are able to connect with each other. The seating is comfortable, and there is not a bad seat in the house. You will see every expression on the actors face. For me as a performer or when I'm in the audience at a performance, I want this intimate type of theater experience.
