Venerable Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche (1938-2010) and Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche established the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center (PBC) in 1989 to preserve the authentic message of Buddha Shakyamuni and Guru Padmasambhava in its entirety, and in particular to teach the traditions of the Nyingma school and Vajrayana Buddhism.
The Buddha's main teachings were on nonviolence, love, and compassion, and on how to bring out the good qualities within ourselves and others by exploring our nature and the nature of our environment. He taught about how to live in harmony and peace. In order to do this, one simple teaching is to have a good heart, which is also known as bodhichitta.
Buddhism is a teaching of non-violence, kindness, and compassion, as well as respect and appreciation for all living beings. Being harmonious and peaceful with everything that exists is the foundation of the entire teaching of Buddha Shakyamuni. The great teacher Buddha Shakyamuni said that this is our nature-these qualities are not new ideas or dogma that you bring into your life only when you practice Buddhism.
A shrine is a special place to sit and meditate. Set up a shrine in a permanent place that is appropriate for you. The shrine table should be covered in maroon or golden fabric. On the back of the shrine place an image or statue of the Buddha on a small, elevated platform covered in a dark blue cloth.
This is the autobiography of the great yogi and meditation master Tsasum Lingpa. Born in Eastern Tibet in 1685, his mother's name was Gelekma and his father's name was Tashi. The birth of the great father and lineage master Tsasum Lingpa, proceeded in the following way. Through the power of inspiration, you became the gracious, crown jewel.

Padmasambhava Buddhist Center is a hidden treasure of wonders and a most amazing place of truth and goodness. I highly recommend it and can't say enough of the purity of heart and spirit and integrity that I encounter there each time I go. Khenpo Rinpoche is a master teacher and most outstanding individual. He is a living wonder.

The beauty of one's natural mind is radiantly reflected throughout the temple and landscape. Its stillness allows the heart to settle deeply in continual appreciation. The teachings seamlessly merge as a mirror for seeing all one encounters there. Living mandala.

I've been a coming to this beautiful retreat center for several years now. It has started to feel like a second home; a place where the Nyingma lineage remains intact and continues to be transmitted authentically. The residents do an enormous amount of work out of their simple love and commitment to helping those interested in the unique vehicle of dharma. It is an incredibly supportive environment to engage with ones practice in a very deep way. If you are interested in listening to, contemplating, and practicing Buddhism in a Tibetan Buddhist context, I cannot recommend it enough!!!

Padma Samye Ling is a beautiful place to visit. The land is quiet and peaceful. It is the perfect place to relax both body and mind. Everyone here is so kind and genuinely nice. It is wonderful to do individual practice and meditation or practice with Khenpo Tsewang. Receiving teachings from Khenpo is a true blessing.

Padma Samye Ling (PSL) is a serene and beautiful retreat nestled up in the Catskills in upstate New York, under 3 hours from Manhattan. Led by the joyful and humble Khenpo Rinpoche who teaches compassion and acceptance for all, the estate is managed by a wonderful group of young, bright and devoted sangha (Buddhist community) who are also quick to smile and joke (but not judge).
Khenpo's summer teachings draw the biggest crowds, but I especially like the quiet interludes where you can attend the daily evening practices (where you chant and meditate) and stroll around the beautiful green landscape

As soon as you step foot on these 500+ acres you know you are somewhere very special. Everything about the monastery is intentional, inspiring and meant to invite you to deepen into your own true nature. I have been coming here every year since the mid-90's, and it is truly "coming home." The Ven. Khenpo Rinpoches have nurtured the development of this truly sacred mandala, and every breath carries their wisdom mind and compassion. The structured retreats offer magnificent and understandable teachings and commentary, and they are supported by ancient meditation practices throughout the day to support

This Buddhist center is patterned after a family monastery and has been my home away from home for the past four summers. As part of the Learning Dharma Skills program, I lived and worked there, while attending the retreat events. Being able to practice and learn from a Tibetan master is beyond compare. The country setting is beautiful and the community of residents and visitors full of interesting tales and interactions. Though there are lots of quiet moments, the summers are probably not the best time for silent retreat, though I can imagine the other seasons are.

Such an wonderful place! A must see - open to Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. The wall paintings and statues inside the temple are an incredible work of art. The people are very friendly, welcoming and open. And for the buddhists, the teachings and practices are profound. Space is available for Public or private retreats. In my experience, simply breathing the air here is a blissful experience.

I was part of the learning skills for about one year in this pure and beautiful land Padma Samye Ling. If you are a beginner or not so much a beginner in Buddhism I will recommend you to think in the possibility to be a volunteer here at PBC. How much I had learn during my stayed, words cannot express my profound gratitude that this rare opportunity exist in this days. My understanding and practicing of the Dharma through daily Q&A surrender by such great beings is one of great bless. The beautiful connections I have made here is one that I will carry with me forever! My life is not the same after
