Services
Our facility is one of the largest full-service facilities in the Mid Atlantic, provides everything for beginner to advanced swimmers, snorkelers and divers. The on-site, indoor, heated pool will meet all your in-water needs for training, gear tryout and special events. The retail store, stocked with a wide range of items, can accommodate special orders as well.
After much deliberation, Malena and I have decided to consolidate the two stores into our Virginia Beach location. This was a difficult decision to make because we love our little P-Town shop. Plus the drive. But the cost savings will be substantial, and our full-time presence in one location will help make the store even better than it now is.
Designed for children six months to four years old, Swim Life specializes in custom swim lessons for each student's needs and the goals of each parent. Using a gentle, fun approach, we consider each student's learning style, emotional needs, physical abilities and skill level. Our instructors provide the safest, most effective, individualized lessons for every student.
Swimming lessons are an essential part of a child's education. Being able to swim properly increases confidence which makes time in the water an enjoyable and safe experience. In addition, swimming is a healthy, total fitness activity that lasts a lifetime. Our Learn to Swim programs are taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors with an enthusiasm and dedication to helping children and adults achieve their swimming goals.
Our three tiered 16' deep indoor heated pool offers an ideal underwater environment for photography and video. The pool is 25' wide x 60' long and is divided into three equal sections of 3-1/2', 10', and 16' deep. All sections have a flat bottom, with a steeply slopped drop off dividing them. This creates a 25' X 40'area that is at least 10'deep.

My daughter had her first private swim lesson last weekend, and Coach Bryce was amazing! My kid can't wait to come back...she is counting down the days and hours until Saturday is here again. He's working on all my requests (proper breathing, basic strokes, simultaneous hand and leg coordination, etc.). After only 30 minutes, she was gliding, breathing every other stroke...progress made!

This place is simply wonderful. I highly recommend coming here for whatever your diving needs are. I got open water certified through this wonderful company and can’t tell you how great it was. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and makes sure that you are taken care of. If you want a dive shop that truly cares about you learning and your overall experience then this is your place.

Can only say positive things about this place. Just completed my open water certification and the staff at Chesapeake dive center was there every step of the way. Eric made sure things were well planned out and encouraged everyone with positivity and reinforcement of what we had previously learned.

Walked into the shop to check it. I wanted to find a dive shop because I'm new to the area. The girl working was helping someone else, but kept saying I don't know when asked questions and making up possible responses. That's definitely something I don't want to hear come out of a dive "professional". I've been diving for over 10 years and am master diver certified. Hearing someone work in a dive shop with very little knowledge of dive gear scares me. This shop also has maybe 2 brands that they offer. No thanks.

I haven't started any of the classes at location just yet. I only have been able to start taking classes online. However, I can speak about my process getting registered for said classes and my personal interaction with the dive center. I visited the Portsmouth location to talk about my future dive training. At first, I wanted to only take a specialty or two during this summer, mainly because of my work schedule. I wasn't sure if I was going to like scuba diving, so I signed up for a "Try Scuba" class. It was a wonderful experience!!!! There was a total of 4 students including myself. After a small classroom session, they put us into full scuba gear and put us into a deeper than normal pool. There were 3 instructors keeping an eye on us for 4 students. I had an amazing time!!!!
After researching some different dive shops, I decided to go with Chesapeake Bay Dive and Aquatic Center. I am so happy that I did. I just completed my Open Water Certification last weekend. Our instructor, Matt, was incredible

Chesapeake Bay Diving Center does not honor the SSI dive system. They make you do repetitive, expensive dives and won't honor other SSI dive centers. Be very careful and go with another dive center. You will not get certified in a timely manner at the cost described!

I took a freediving class at CBDC in February, and it was fantastic! I felt very comfortable trusting the instructors to teach me and keep me safe. I even got all the way up to a 3:45 breath hold! The pool is heated - major plus - and super clear. I highly recommend getting freedive certified at CBDC. Everyone who works there is highly knowledgeable, and the people there quickly become great friends.

Top notch facility. It would be difficult to find a better stand alone Freedive training center anywhere on the east coast. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and reliable staff. They are well versed in all genres related to Freediving. (safety, spearfishing, competition, training, etc.) They are consummate professionals.
