Norris Building Company was founded in 1977 as a partnership by Paul E. "Chip" Norris, Jr. and his wife, Patricia "Tricia" Norris. Chip worked out of his home office and pick-up truck; estimating and attending to the miscellaneous paperwork at night while acting as a laborer, carpenter, concrete finisher and superintendent during the day.
Tricia paid the bills and did the book keeping at night after teaching school during the day. In 1979, the company became incorporated in the state of Alabama and relocated its office to downtown Montgomery. In the beginning, our scope of work focused on small residential projects. By 1980 we shifted our concentration to larger commercial and light industrial work ranging from renovations to brand new construction.

Many office and retail buildings are constructed with empty tenant spaces consisting of little more than four walls and a door. The idea is that the spaces will be finished to meet the specific needs of each prospective tenant. The process of finishing out this raw space is known as the "build-out."
