Surviving decades after other hifi shops closed, University Audio is the place for high(er)-end audio equipment in Dane Countyand the surrounding areas. The staff is welcoming and informed, and when they don't know an answer, they find out rather than making one up. They don't carry everything, but their product lines are established and trusted (i.e, NAD, B&W, Audioquest, Golden Ear, and more). I trust their advice, and they don't constantly push to upsell. Recommended.

What a special spot - I picked up my first speaker pair/receiver here recently. Elton spent almost two hours with me talking with me about my music goals and sampling different combinations to make sure I had the right sound at the right price point. He made me right at home to ask even the most basic questions. It was a great experience and origin story for what has already been some excellent hardware! Another madison gem.

Purchased a pair of S6's and it could not have gone better. Speakers work and look like new and the trucking company was excellent. I wish that they had more listings online because they would be my first choice to buy from again.

We recently moved to the greater Madison area. I approached Steve with ideas I had for our Home Theater / Audiophile (Pure music listening) within our Great Room. I've been buying stereo equipment from University Audio since 2003 when I purchased a Home Theater Receiver from Ben. Since then over the years I have upgraded my system significantly and these guys have been a tremendous resource along the way. They have let me borrow preamps, power amps, digital sources and cables to try at home before making a decision. High-end audio can be very frustrating at times and to have a local dealer that understands this and takes their time to make sure you're satisfied is invaluable. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough good things about University Audio. They sell top notch, quality equipment. All the staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and very friendly.

Doesn't look like it from the outside, but this place has great high-end audio. Staff were helpful and not audio snobs. Only issue would be they need more people on the weekend to handle customers numbers (had to wait a while to talk with someone). Two thumbs up!
