Wells in central Ohio come from either rock formations (sandstone, shale, limestone, etc.) or sand and gravel formations. Mount Water Well Drilling uses mostly rotary type drilling for rock formations. In these instances, plastic casing is generally used. Annular space is grouted with betonite. For sand and gravel formations, a cable (or percussion) rig is normally used along with steel casing.
Do not be alarmed - this is to be expected. Because of the debris and discoloration, you may want to remove the aerator screens on spigots, due to them plugging up. In extreme iron and other debris conditions, the plumbing can become plugged, and a plumber may be needed. If you suspect these debris conditions, you should chlorinate the well system only first.
A typical water pump system for a house produces a volume of approximately 10 GPM at 60-65 PSI. The common misconception that "if I have a well instead of a city water system, my pressure and volume will not be as good" is simply wrong! IF a system is engineered properly, there is no reason you shouldn't have just as good, and in many cases better, pressure than the average municipal water system.
