HillTop Greenhouse & Farms is our dream. We built this farm from the soil up, opening our doors as a business in 2005. Each and every plant in our greenhouse is prepared by our family's hands. Why? Simply because we know that the right start will set them up for success in your garden. In the years since opening our doors, we have established such wonderful relationships with the communities around us.
We don't have customers here at HillTop - we have new friends. Our HillTop friends continue to come back to shop with us year after year, coming from Dexter, Ann Arbor, Stockbridge, Chelsea, Manchester, Plymouth, and even Illinois! HillTop Greenhouse & Farms is proud to be the first greenhouse in Washtenaw County to be environmentally certified by the State of Michigan.

I brought a customer with me to HillTop Greenhouse to shop for plants to fill their balcony planters very early in the season. Denise worked closely with my customer and me to find just the right plants that would survive in planters between now and mid May and then continue on thru the summer. Thanks Denise for all the info and assistance you provided today!

Although the prices are good and the staff is nice almost everything has bugs. Whether it’s aphids, thrip, scale, mealies, fungus gnats, etc their plants are loaded with them. It’s really not worth saving a little money just to have to spend weeks cleaning up an infestation that the plants from Hilltop are carrying. I’d get your plant fix at Telly’s or something. Not here.

We have been coming here for years. The selection and care of each plant and flower was high. This year however, we were greatly disappointed. Our vegetable plants were very small, (in comparison of former years) and two of the three in their pack were very small, barely above 1 inch. The plants had apots on their leaves. We have always gone on Memorial Day weekend and this is the first time we had felt let down. Going to our second choice first next year. Their plants and vegetables were beautiful.

Just went there today. We were so pleased at their social distancing policies. All staff wore masks and the cashier was protected by plexiglass.
I could use the credit card reader myself.
Clear flow to aisles - with many one way - and separate entrances and exits.
I noticed, too, that they wipe down the carts after every use.
And just like every year, they have a great selection of big, healthy plants!

Expensive plants that stagnate or wither away. I know this is a local business, but the mark-up is shocking. $20 each (!) for small hostas that barely grew; meanwhile, $10 to $12 hostas from another local nursery are thriving. Their hanging baskets had poor soil and quickly died, even with proper care. I'd be willing to pay more for superior plants, but I feel like I spent so much here with nothing to show for. Friendly people and lots to see, but that doesn't really help my garden grow. Bottom line: Make sure to compare what you're getting at this place with some other local nurseries.
