Fall is the start of the Camellia season. Camellias provide year round beauty, with deep green glossy foliage year round plus beautiful flowers in fall, winter & spring, depending upon the variety. Most prefer shade or semishade, but some can tolerate a fair amount of sun. There are hundreds of different species, hybrids & cultivars of Camellias.
Dormant spraying is an effective & relatively safe way to prevent many of the insect & disease problems that plague our gardens. It's called dormant spraying because it applied to deciduous plants when they are dormant & leafless. There are two types of dormant sprays. Liquid copper (copper ammonium complex or copper octanoate) is an effective fungicide & bactericide.
The age old question: When do I plant my tomatoes? Heck, I don't know. Every year is different. Tomatoes do not like cold weather. If they are chilled for a prolonged period of time, they may not die, but they may become stunted, or their growth may be slowed so that later plantings will overtake your earlier plantings.
