This was a very pleasant surprise - with the individual cabins and throw-back atmosphere. The most unique feature - definitely not something a place can plan or design for - was the immediate feeling that you're home, just with a group of new neighbors! Several folks sitting in the chairs just outside the door to their cabin - all ready to give a sincere smile and "How ya' doin'?"

As the new owners/operators of the Z Bar Cabins and Motel along with our children - the Z Bar has become a great place for us to put down our roots in this beautiful mountain community. Through the years of construction and renovations, most of the cabins have been restored to their original charm and beauty of post World War II America in which they were built while more updates are planned and on the way.
You'll find our modern, rustic cabins midway between Mt. Rushmore National Memorial and Yellowstone National Park along Highway 16. Because of its low grade, gentle curves and breathtaking scenery, The Sweet 16 is the most scenic and safest route between two of the most awe-inspiring national treasures in the country.

Great little cabin! We've been on a camping trip and decided we needed a bed and showers for a night so we stayed in this cute cabin. You're able to park right next to your cabin, the shower was small (we're both tall and had to deal with a shorter shower head) but we managed and it felt great to get a shower and get some rest on an actual bed. I slept great, my husband said his side of the bed wasn't very comfortable, he felt like it dipped down to the side so he felt like he was going to fall off all night. AC worked great. They had a wonderful booklet with all sorts of info of what to do and

Quiet place (when kids are out sight seeing ) with grassy middle area with some picnics tables, with shade trees ,to feed your family. Management was attentive. Inside our cabin, we had a proper AC unit. Large/small Towels were fresh & crisp. Overall, pleased with are stay. Oh yeah, if you need a hospital, there is one just a 2 minute drive away ( if that certain kid decides to do a cartwheel without looking out for bystanders ). Enjoy.
