Most people never imagine that they will be arrested and charged with a crime and assume that anyone who is arrested must be a criminal. The truth is that anyone can be arrested. Unlike many other defense attorneys I am NOT a former Assistant District Attorney nor a former police officer. I don't judge our clients, I just defend them.
In fact, I came to the practice of law as a second career. Prior to becoming an attorney I spent 20 years as a business executive, eventually running a large subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company. Some times getting a traffic ticket isn't a big deal. You sign the back, pay a fine and it's over with. However, all too often the guilty plea and fine are only the beginning of a costly experience. If the ticket was for a "moving violation" such as speeding, failure to obey a traffic signal or sign, failing to maintain lane, etc., the guilty plea is reported to the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles where it becomes part of a driver's record.

A mistaken identification, a misunderstanding or dispute with the police or another party, even simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time can lead to being taken into custody by the police and charged with an offense.
For most drivers getting a traffic ticket isn't a big deal. They sign the back, pay a fine and it's over with. But, if you have a CDL and drive for a living, particularly if you drive for a trucking company, the consequences of a simple speeding ticket can be dramatic. A single speeding ticket can take a driver off the road!
Many inmates in the NYS Corrections system are eligible for parole before their full sentence has been served. Technically, inmates who are paroled are still in the "custody" of the NYS Department of Corrections. However, they are serving the remainder of their sentence outside of prison and under the supervision of the state.

I was pulled over on the NY State Thruway for not moving over for an emergency vehicle... and driving with out of state plates. As it happens, my doing so would have resulted in an accident (I drove an ambulance as a volunteer EMT for five years so have some credibility on the issue of safe driving in the presence of emergency vehicles). The police officer also wrote in the wrong item so I would have received three points instead of what he intended to accuse me of which would have resulted in one point. The Law Office of Glenn Magnell to the rescue. They got it knocked down to a parking violation

I got a speeding ticket on the Palisades Parkway for 78 in a 50. I was looking at a big fine that comes with 6 points on my license which would raise my insurance even higher. The court was in Stony Point, so it wasn't convenient for me to appear and get a plea bargain. Through googling the court I found this law office. They were able to get me a plea which carried a much smaller fine and no points.
Overall I was very happy with my decision to use this law office. They were very professional and helpful. I didn't have to go to court, my fine was less, and my insurance won't go
