Musty smells and odors in the house are very likely coming from the crawl space. If the house smells musty after a big rain, you very likely have a moisture problem in the crawl space. The good news is that most smells can be removed if you eliminate the source of the smells. When a big rain occurs, the ground can become saturated and cause standing water to infiltrate the crawl space, by penetrating the porous mortar joints in brick.
Moisture in a crawl space can cause mold to grow and create health risks in a home. Here we discuss how to prevent the sources of moisture from creating an environment where mold can grow and affect the health of the home. Crawl space moisture is a problem in climates with high humidity. Most homes with crawl spaces are ventilated, allowing the outside air to flow under the home.

This team was incredible! From beginning to end, absolutely amazing. Lenny, the PM, was communicative from the start, and remained so continuously. He was helpful, responsive, and always available. Then, I spoke with Mickey in the office; phenomenal personality, with a genuine customer-service oriented attitude. She was pleasant, courteous, flexible, and if she didn't know the answer, she'd politely put me on hold for a short moment while she confirmed it with another portion of the team. From there, the site crew communicated. Stefan and his team were, hands down, one of the top ten best subcontractor

It has been 5 years since Bay installed a french drain and encapsulated my crawl space and everything is still working and functioning like the day it was installed, which speaks to the great quality of the products they used and their workmanship.
They installed a perimeter french drain with two sump pumps and a vapor barrier with a dehumidifier. The plastic vapor barrier still looks like new and the tape seams have held strong. The foam board insulation on the walls looks good as well. My crawl space humidity levels have remained around 40% and I don't have standing water issues in the crawl

Troy from Bay Crawl Space & Foundation Repair came out today for a yearly inspection. I have not had an inspection in awhile. He was very professional in that he called before he arrived, showed up on time, and went right to work. He changed out my dehumidifier filters, inspected the encapsulation, and even took pictures with his iPad. He communicated with me about the dehumidifiers and the humidity sensor for monitoring in the crawl space. He volunteered to replace the new sensor I just purchased and remove the old one , but I wanted to see how things were underneath my home. In the end, he placed

Bay was a very professional and knowledgeable company. The estimator was great in helping decide what work was needed. The office kept me up to date with any changes that needed to occur. Not to mention that the installers, they kept me up to date with what they were doing throughout the process. All in all it was a great experience.

It was a pleasure doing business with Bay Crawl space. After getting quotes with other companies I felt most comfortable with them. From the first phone call Mickey was very pleasant and helpful. My inspector, Michael, was patient in explaining what was going on. He sat down with me, showed pictures, and explained the process to me. Something none of the other companies did. The staff in scheduling, was so patient with me while I was wrapping up other projects. I’m just really thankful to this company. This was my first big project at my first house and they made the process as stress free, and

They are a fantastic company to work with. Years ago when we needed some work done in our crawlspace we had 3 companies come out. They provided the best value for the work needed and seemed the most thorough in their inspection.
We had a supplemental beam installed plus went ahead with an encapsulation. They did great work and we’ve been very happy. Each year we have them come out to inspect everything and change the filters in the dehumidifier. They are always prompt and reliable.

After a recent discovery of a moisture issue under our house we had several companies come and give us an estimate for an encapsulation. Bay Crawlspace was not the cheapest. However, after speaking with the employee that gave us the estimate, they were the most professional and seemed the most knowledgeable. Once we decided to go with Bay Crawlspace they were in constant contact to keep us up to date on the timeframe of the install. During the install Eric, Travis, Aaron, and Jermine showed up when they said they would and cleaned up after themselves. Overall, we are very pleased with the services

Bay Crawlspace was one of 6 quotes to identify and fix the issue of water rising up from the ground into our crawlspace. We were very impressed with Lenny our sales rep right from the start. Bay was able to start nearly a month earlier than anticipated the team was on time... they worked hard and quickly. Each day they cleaned up all the work they preformed that day. The entire project took 3 days as they said. Each day we were given a wrap of the days work, and next steps. Each team member Rad, Jermaine and the foreman Art were so very professional and knowledgeable. I had read reviews

In preparation for house renovation, we hired Bay Crawlspace to handle issues under the house and settling on the exterior. Lennie conducted our inspection and we found him to be informative and realistic with our issues. He made practical suggestions for the work needed. When the day arrived for our work to begin, we met our crew, Stefan, Floyd and Adian. They were cordial young men and were obviously interested in completing our job professionally. Stefan, as foreman, identified a possible problem upon surveying the property. He worked with Lennie to alleviate the issue and work commenced. The

We hired Bay to fix a poor crawlspace encapsulation in our home that was installed by a previous owner. Beau did a thorough inspection and sat down with us to make a remediation plan that fit our budget. We decided to replace the vapor barrier and install a dehumidifier. Joe and his team were very professional and courteous during the installation of our system and left our home as clean as it was when they showed up. The Bay installation was almost a year ago and we've had no issues. Seth and Matt did our annual inspection and spent time with us to review any areas of concern we had

Bay Crawl Space encapsulated our crawlspace about two years ago. They did a great job and they were very professional. I recently called to schedule a service visit and the young lady who scheduled my appointment was very professional, helpful and took the time to explain what will be included in the service visit.

Bay Crawlspace encapsulated my crawl space 2 years ago and the results speak for themselves regarding the humidity being perfect inside the house with the dehumidifier they installed and the vapor barrier keeping everything dry both inside the crawl space and in my home living space. That said, their service contract after the fact is on par with customer satisfaction as they stand by their product and want to make sure everything is working correctly as installed.

Because of moisture issues which resulted in a mildew smell seeping into my house, I had Bay Crawlspace install an encapsulation system in my crawlspace 12 months ago. They arrived when they said they would, leveled the sand in the crawlspace, installed the material on the ground and up the walls, replaced vents with closed caps, and finished off the project with a new access door. All this, plus a dehumidifier made the smell go away almost immediately. As an added bonus I noticed this past winter that, during the freezing days that dropped into the teens, the temperature in the crawlspace maintained

My husband discovered a pretty bad leak, along with other problems, under our house crawl space. The house is about 50 years old and probably had the original fiberglass and material under there along with scores of dead rodents, their urine and feces. Truly -- it was a mess! Blake (manager/owner) came out within a week and did a thorough assessment along with taking pictures and fully explained the problem and process for cleaning up and correcting the crawl space area. He gave us a quote right then and there and even offered an additional 10% discount. This is not a cheap job so my husband
