New batches of Bharathanatyam, Carnatic music and Kathak lessons begin. Bharathanatyam is a classical dance form from India. It is one of the most technically advanced dance form, which is taught in a systematic way. This system of learning dance dates back to 2nd century BC. Kathak is a North Indian classical dance, focuses mostly on footwork's and pirouettes with million variety of rhythm patterns.
It has the influence of both Hindu and Muslim cultures. Carnatic Music is one of the most comprehensive way to learn music. It encompasses infinite loops of melodies and rhythm cycle, making it one of the most challenging art form; which needs to be learnt only under a Guru. The basic 72 parent scales form the foundation of this music system.

Soorya Performing Arts is a principle organization devoted to preserving, propagating through imparting training, and performance of Indian Performing arts. Its basic mission is to enrich the cultural diversity and artistic excellence in the state of Missouri and across the Greater United States of America.
Soorya Performing Arts is a non-profit organization whose role and responsibility is to coordinate and support the growth and development of Indian art forms such as classical dance, music and theater in greater St. Louis area. Its main aim is to make ancient art forms from India more enjoyable to American populace.
The St. Louis Indian Music / Dance Festivals are organized entirely by volunteers, and we depend on community involvement to run the event in a smooth fashion. If you would like to volunteer at either the Festivals or in general by serving on, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. Read on for a sample of what we do, followed by instructions on how to sign up.
Welcome to the training center of Soorya Dance Company (SDC). SDC offers classes to various levels of students and ranging skill sets. We offer lessons to younger kids as young as 5 years or to a serious dancer who wishes to pursue dance as a career or to an adult who wishes to learn dance for passion and fun.
Arrival time - Please be on time. The whole of class, including warming up, is important, and late arrival is disruptive for other students. Studio doors will be closed 5 minutes after the stipulated class time. Please do not knock the door, wait until teachers open for latecomers after a suitable break.
