Enjoy furnished Captain's Lodge on the Rapids as a one month long rental through June or ask about this fall and winter. We had a great time at the lodge. The place is huge and has a ton of bedrooms. The kids loved the ping pong table and playing in the river our front of the house. Ben, the contact for the house is super friendly and easy to communicate with about anything about the house, property or local area.
Our Misty Annex is a small cabin with living area, full bath, queen bedroom with private bathroom access, fully furnished kitchen with gas range, living room with Direct TV and DSL internet access, French doors onto deck facing Shenandoah River to allow Misty River Retreat guests to book up to 10 guests.
Please note: in order to rent the Misty Annex, you must also rent Misty River Retreat House. If Misty River Retreat is booked, the annex is NOT available as a separate rental for other guests. Our NEW Misty Annex is a small cabin with living area, full bath, and kitchen to allow Misty River Retreat guests to optionally book up to 10 guests.
Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful vacation. Misty river retreat was truly a retreat. It was clean comfortable and convenient. I also wanted to thank you for being available and a phone call away. We had our trip planned around hurricane Florence, I appreciate you sending me weather reports and keeping me posted on the river reports.
Weather apps/DC/ Baltimore/ Richmond/National "shows" do not accurately predict our local weather. We require a two-night minimum on regular weekends and a three-night minimum on all holiday weekends. Country Place Lodging & Camping on the Shenandoah River Country Place is perfect for groups, families, schools, offices wishing their own private campground.

We usually camp down by the river.
Pros: easy access to river, they pick up the trash, and provide firewood at a low cost!
Cons: very expensive ($30 nightly per person) and falling trees! It is scary with kids running around. They need to cut down the rotten trees. One tree fell down in the river and it would have severely injured anyone swimming there. It wasn’t windy or raining. Also basecamp needs cleaning and updating!

We just spent the weekend at eagles landing. Rustic look on a very large open place. Had a nice welcome home feel to it. Hot tub on the back deck made night time star viewing all the better. Sitting by the campfire listening to the shenandoah right next to us was by far the highlight of the weekend. Peaceful, relaxing. I only wish we had more time there. Will definitely be booking again in the future.

The place was amazing. I definitely recommend any family to go. It's private, the view is beautiful and they allow pets which is awesome. They have 2 beautiful horses that are peaceful. The amount of space is great since you're not too close to anyone. Thanks Don (awesome person who attended us with open arms), Gail (wish I met you) and Ben (helped me with directions and was super helpful) for making this experience amazing. My family and I appreciate each of you. We will be going back again :)

This is a really special and beautiful place along the Shenandoah River. Camped here with our boys to get familiar with the area before I bring a larger group of college students for a class visit. The owners are kind and attentive and the property is stunningly beautiful. So much to do in the area: hike, fish, swim, river floats in kayaks or inner-tubes, etc. Highly recommend The Country Place!
