Services
Dr. Massey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, which is the highest standard of care designation in our specialty. She is a 2009 graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry and attended LSU School of Dentistry for her pediatric dental training. Dr. Massey has several years of private practice experience and most recently was working as a faculty member at LSU School of Dentistry.
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
For more information concerning pediatric dentistry, please visit the website for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years.
Some children are given nitrous oxide/oxygen, or what you may know as laughing gas, to relax them for their dental treatment. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is a blend of two gases, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide/oxygen is given through a small breathing mask which is placed over the child's nose, allowing them to relax, but without putting them to sleep.
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with them for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason.

Dr. Massey was very inviting. I was a little worried in the beginning because I felt like they were not going to be able to see my daughter due to her having an innocent heart murmur and a viral infection (non-contagious) however Dr. Massey and her staff came and explained everything and still completed her service. Love them there and I hope to continue to build a strong relationship with them.

My daughter has many fears about going to any doctor, but Dr. Massey’s staff has taken the time to get to know her fears and challenge her to take care of her dental hygiene. She loves competition and they have figured that out. Thankfully, she does not want to let any of them down. Each time we go she becomes more comfortable with the process of going to the dentist, because the staff have made her feel welcomed and not like a child who is different. Thank you for being so patient.

I was completely blown away on how they treated and cared for my child. My daughter had a terrible experience at a previous dentist and they made her feel so comfortable! She was super anxious and really took the time to ease her mind! As we were leaving my daughter told me “they’re nice mommy, I like them.” That means the world to me! Definitely will recommend to all my family and friends!

We have loved Dr. Shaw for 9 years. Her and the entire staff are amazing. We had a broken front tooth a couple of years ago and she was available on the weekend to help us. Even with all of the tough times With the broken tooth, my 14 year old son still LOVES going to see them. There isn't another dentist I would trust with my child!!

Dr. Shaw and her staff always make my two kids feel comfortable and they make it fun to see a dentist. They absolutely love the token machines where they get to take home a small prize for being good during the cleaning. Her staff are very much kid friendly and even my son who is painfully shy has a blast there with them. Plus, she has 7:30 AM appointments which make it easy to get them to school afterwards. If you are looking for a Pediatric dentist I highly recommend Dr. Shaw.

I made an appointment for my 4 year old to see Dr Thorson at Pamela Shaws office . Apparently Dr Thorson works out of this office one or two days a week and the rest of the week at her office in Destrehan. I would never recommend either place to anyone. They tried to say my daughter had two large cavities that needed crowns, without even doing X-rays . They said it would be too difficult to do a filling so they rather just sedate her and put the crowns on . I decided to call my dentist to get a second opinion and found out my daughter had one small cavity that could easily be filled . She was

I took my son to Dr Pam Shaw, she seemed to have no patience with him. yes he was nervous but that is why you take your child to a ped Dentist. There were sharp objects in his view and she did not want to take the time to explain what she was going to do to him and he became very nervous, she abruptly told us he would have to have dental surgery because she did not want to put up with him. I would not recommend her to my worsted enemy.
