Services
Parker Amsel is a co-owner of Viva Dance Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. He trained in gymnastics and martial arts for 15 years before starting ballet, modern, and ballroom in college. He has been teaching most styles of competitive ballroom and social partner dance, including theater arts, since 2007. Rebecca Sweet is a co-owner of Viva Dance Studio and is a studio management consultant.
Whether you want to improve your social dancing or become a competitive ballroom dancer - our instructors will help you make it happen! Our private lessons are 45-min long one-on-one customized lessons that will help you improve faster and concentrate on your specific dance goals. We currently offer lessons in person at the studio (all lessons are taught with masks on for both students and instructors) as well as Virtually over Zoom.
Our group classes are currently limited to 16 people - 8 leads and 8 follows (the sign up links are marked "leads" or '"follows", please make sure you are signing up for the role you would like to learn!) We're offering in-person classes for groups of 4-8 people. These are scheduled at your group's convenience & personalized based on your group's interest & dance level.
Do you want your first dance to be an excruciating 4 minutes of clutch and sway or do you want people to think you should be on TV? Viva is open! And whenever google asks me to review, I do - especially for a place as great as this.
You can still get private lessons, there are lots of group lessons for all skill levels available. Masks are required at all times. The space has been rearranged for fewer tight squeezes in the walkways.
As always the teachers are fun, easy to work with, delightful, and experienced. There are also several virtual sessions being offered, so definitely check those out too!

It's difficult to find any one quality you find at Viva Dance, reliable, prompt, punctual, professional, friendly, caring, compassionate, and careful instruction both granular and quickly compounding. It's worth my 1-2 weekly trips from Pittsburgh. I took a new student half hour lesson yesterday with Eddie. I'd never tried salsa or tango before, but in half an hour he taught me several basic steps and had me absolutely hooked and ready to come back all December for more classes! Even though I initially felt awkward and out of place trying such intimate dance styles with a stranger, he was the definition of a personable professional and made me feel incredibly at ease! Booked our first lesson online just based on google reviews, my wife and I had very little dance background and were interested in a choreographed first dance. From the 1st lesson to the last we had an amazing experience, the instructors were wonderful and in a low-pressure environment. I'm a beginner student that has always wanted to learn how to dance, so I enrolled in lessons to learn Bachata and Salsa at Viva Dance Studio based on a recommendation from a friend. This studio has professional instructors that have performed, trained and taught across the world. Rebecca is one of these incredible instructors who knows how to show and explain moves in a very intuitive way, and her passion and energy is contagious! No matter how many mistakes I make Rebecca is always very patient and encouraging. Couldn't recommend more highly, my only regret is not starting earlier

We enrolled at Viva Dance Studio in preparation for our wedding first dance. We are not natural dancers but Parker helped us find our groove. We have enjoyed every opportunity to be back at the studio until the completion of our first dance. Not only did he put together an awesome choreography for such a special dance, he also had lots of helpful pointers to share that we never even thought about. We enjoyed working with Parker and we enjoyed every single lesson. We came to love dancing even if we were not dancers and we enjoyed performing our first dance on our wedding. I had the amazing opportunity this past weekend to attend a social and private lesson at Viva. Having never done this type is dance before, I was naturally nervous, but as soon as I got there, I found there was no reason to be. Everyone was so amazingly nice and open, and they are truly a credit to their craft. It takes a certain talent to teach a group of people how to dance, at all different levels and experience, and not make it intimidating. It was all about having fun and actually enjoying dance. My husband and I went to Viva to take dance lessons for our first dance at our wedding. Parker crafted choreography for our dance that was appropriate for our skill level and song selection (a mashup of pop, hip hop, and soca) - our favorite dance moves were even incorporated! Parker gave suggestions on how to enhance the performance and make it memorable and impressive. Everyone at Viva was welcoming and supportive. I've been a student at Viva for nearly three years and I can't recommend it enough to anyone interested in learning partner dancing. The studio is fun and sophisticated, with plenty of mirrors and floor space for lessons and parties. The friendly and qualified instructors bring their own special talents and styles, presenting them in a digestible manner for students of all levels. Getting to know the staff and students at Viva has been such a pleasure...not only am I improving my dance skills and having fun, the social aspect of making new friends and sharing in a common interest has been so rewarding

Absolutely wonderful! I just had my first class there, and the hip hop classes were well-taught, challenging, and welcoming. The other students were highly competent and talented dancers, and the overall vibe was extremely positive and intense. I'm so glad I found this studio and highly recommend it to dancers who want to focus on non-ballet/theater forms of dance.

By far the best salsa dancing venue/studio in Northeast Ohio. The space inside is incredible and is perfect for salsa regulars! Big windows give way to see the skyline of Cleveland, couches for a more relaxed secluded area, and most importantly a decent sized dancing floor. One of their up and coming events are their every other Saturday Salsa and Kizomba night. I came for the first time last Saturday and had a great time. Viva dance studio is an amazing place !! I enjoy going there for my dance lessons. It's a very friendly environment. Anthony is a great guy and a great teacher and has a lot of patience to work with his students . He makes sure I get the steps right even if he has to spend extra time with me he makes sure I am doing it right. Everyone at Viva including Rebecca, Laurel,Cat, Nika and Parker are very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend this place !!

I've danced at various places around the U.S. and Viva's is one of the most diverse places! I grew up in Los Angeles so the dance studios typically attracted just one kind of person. At Viva's you see all levels of dancers from all sorts of walks in life. You don't even need a partner! Everyone is so friendly and willing to dance. They have Latin nights on Thursdays and Saturdays, which is great because I love salsa and bachata! They have lessons before the social, which are only $10- very affordable! There is lots of parking space as well so you won't need to worry about

Fantastic dance classes and instructors! Been dancing with them for over a year, well-worth the 50-minute drive to Cleveland. The studio offers students many opportunities to practice beyond group and private classes, including its awesome Socials on Thursday nights--which is also conveniently scheduled after most group classes-- and Fridays in Ceviche. Highly recommended.
