Before the formation of Artisan, Aaron received his training and worked for many years for one of the world's preeminent textile conservators. He has cared for rugs from museums, important rug collections, celebrities, world-renowned designers and many prominent rug dealers. Aaron has cleaned thousands of rugs, primarily oriental and other collectible rugs.

1. Extensive, thorough inspection and documentation. The inspection will reveal whether a rug is machine- or handmade, what its likely country of origin is, and its fiber content. These factors are important to a determination of the rug's suitability for washing.
Visible pre-existing conditions such as tea-washing, old spotting attempts, tears, sun-fade, residue from past cleanings, unraveling, excessive soiling, stains, and other damage will be noted and discussed with the client prior to cleaning.Your rug is next washed with flowing water and given a gentle bath.

It's one of the ironies of owning a fine handmade rug. It takes an experienced artisan hundreds of hours to create a beautiful hand knotted rug. Even the casual observer can clearly tell it's a work of art. Yet the minute you place it on the floor it's destined for a lifetime of wear and tear. But we don't expect you to stop walking on your rug, after all, that's what they were made for.

I had an old rug that I thought was pretty much gone. I took it to Artisan and they got all the stains out and it looked like it had came back to life. I also took a smaller (cheap) inexpensive rug there and it was treated the same way. Aaron is easy to work with. He is also like a walking encyclopedia of rug history. Thank you Artisan!!!

We had a very nice antique rug. We took it somewhere else and they said they couldn't clean it because it wouldn't go through there process well. Then I heard about Artisan from a friend and took it there. Aaron (owner, operator), did an amazing job and did everything by hand. The rug came out bright, softer and clean. Take your rugs here if you value them!

I have taken three rugs here and have had excellent results and service every time. They even took care of a limited rare Polish tapestry rug that was an important family heirloom, saving it from pet stains and a nasty moth infestation so that we could display it and enjoy it in our home again. Customer service was friendly and professional, and it seems clear that they truly have a good understanding of how to treat and care for fine rugs.

Artisan worked with me from start to finish on a large crewel tapestry that needed to be cleaned and fitted with a velcro strip for proper mounting. They were friendly, informative, and did great work for me at a reasonable price. They evidently take pleasure in working with fine textiles and with their customers.

I took a very nice rug to get it cleaned. I got it from my folks (originally bought in Iran) and it gets much rougher treatment than its quality deserves. It had color bleed and a missing section (~2") of fringe on one side. Above the basic cleaning cost, I wanted to do as much as possible to fix the problems without spending more than about $100 extra. Other vendors I talked to would (at best) do a machine-made patch. the folks at Artisan gave me an overview of the options and then said
