Caring Kind
Watch Nancy Hendley, Dementia Care trainer at CaringKind, share some ideas on helping to keep your loved one engaged and occupied. Connect2culture's partners have found ways to engage families with dementia virtually, by creating live streamed and self-guided activities and experiences online. We're covering the news and speaking with Dr. Alisa Kauffman, who specializes in dentistry for people with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Help CaringKind by being our brand ambassadors - talking to your friends, family, and colleagues about the critical work that we do nonstop, every single day. Dr. Tia Powell is Director of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics and the Einstein Cardozo Master of Science in Bioethics program, and a Professor of Epidemiology and Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

I was up until recently a member of a CaringKind Support Group for children of parents with dementia. My reason for leaving the group is because my father, who was the parent who had dementia, just died a few weeks ago.

I am grateful to CaringKind in general as well as support group leader Mike Koski in particular. Mike is an excellent facilitator who has a kind and empathetic approach. Having run support groups in the past, I know how challenging it can be, and Mike always handled the group with grace and always treated each group member equally. Having a parent with dementia is a nightmare

The information this organization provided was excellent. They answered questions about elder care and provided alternatives on how to protect your loved one assets, as well as the differences between Medicare & Medicaid and what each covers for hospital and long term care. I would highly recommend this organization for people who are facing elder care information.

I am truly thankful for the assistance your organization provided.
I was at my "wits end" trying to navigate the Medicaid MLTC process on my own for my mom. After one telephone call to you, I was advised how to move forward. I attended a few seminars and spoke with Ana Araujo, Social Worker. She was compassionate and provided clear and concise resources and support throughout. I consulted with an Elder Lawyer, Joanne Seminara, who I highly recommend. Mom finally got the services she so desperately needed.

CaringKind provides such needed services for patients with Alzheimer's and their caregivers including but not limited to support groups, social workers who can guide them through Medicaid applications, seeking home care and nursing home placements, etc. In addition, there are many training workshops offered to the professionals. There is the outreach program and bilingual social workers dedicated to the Chinese community. I'm fortunate to have worked with them in my professional life.

The website has lots of information on resources available: www.caringkindnyc.org

Thank you to CaringKind

I have gone to two seminars for caregivers of those with Alzheimer's, both excellent. Patient elder care lawyers answered questions, gave handouts, and showed support for the caregiver.

All at no cost!

Truly a remarkable organization. They offer a tremendous amount of information and resources for free to all care takers of people with alzheimers. They offer monthly educational classes as well as training courses to caregivers. There is a toll free hotline available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - they are there to help with just about any type of situation that may arise having to do with alzheimers. Check out the website at alz.org to learn more for yourself. I also suggest, if you are able, to make a donation to help keep this wonderful organization going. Even if you can't afford
