In one particularly forward thinking ad campaign, Higgins Lumber advocated conservation of building materials and intelligent design. While Higgins Lumber was sold in the 70s, the commitment to environmental awareness lives on at Conwell Ace.

Bottom line: famously rude customer service, now enhanced with a merchandising system that requires customers to scavenger-hunt for prices. If you want to be humiliated and you've got the time and money--this is your place.
At the beginning of the summer, I reluctantly ventured out to Conwell to check out some tools and buy some raised-bed fill for my garden. With a backlog of consistently negative experiences at Conwell's--i.e., extremely rude service that left me feeling humiliated--I resolved not to allow that to affect my attitude as I scoured the garden section for said fill.

They removed the prices from the merchandise and you have to scan the barcodes with your phone (which doesn't work) so you have to look up the prices by on a tablet that's in each aisle by comparing the SKU number.
I do not support this but I understand they are short staffed. I hope they figure out a way to list prices on the merchandise (not on a tablet, not by searching on my phone).

As a Local painting contractor, I depend on the Team at Conwell for paint, supplies, tools and equipment. They have provided consistently excellent service to me and my business @Timseatonpainting for several years. The management team works hard, they always have fair and competitive pricing, and happily work to get products requested by customers when possible. Andy, Tony, Natasha and Joel (and the rest of the team) are always helpful when I have a complicated question that needs answering.

Always so helpful, on this visit the staff helped load bags of gravel in my car which I really appreciated. Whatever you need for around the house you can find it here and no need to travel to a "big box" store. Really enjoy being able to support a local business that is well stocked with a great product assortment, carries quality brands like Benjamin Moore, Dewalt and Craftsman and always greets you with a ""what can I help you find today?" Thanks Conwell Ace!!!!!

It's difficult to imagine that this store could be any worse. In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, they remain open. That's great! But then every time I've gone in to patronize them they act so put out, as if "how dare you shop here." News bulletin Conwell Home Center: IF YOU DON'T US TO SHOP THERE THEN DON'T F'IN OPEN UP!!! Geez, what complete a*holes.

What a fantastic hardware store ... very well organized and very helpful staff. I just came in for birdseed - but could readily see that whatever I needed in the hardware or lawn/garden arena - they would be a perfect one stop shop. They even gave me advice on attracting more cardinals into my yard - and good local trails for bird watching! They also have ample parking! Very nice.

Best way to describe their customers service: most times had rather wander around instead of trying to find someone to ask a question, because most likely, the folks at the service desk will act like it is an imposition and you do not belong there.
Been like that for 20 years. When the service area was in the back, it was really bad. Has gotten better since they moved the area to by the cash registers over a year or so ago.
Recently, took what should have been a VERY simple transaction at the service desk and made it completely overly complicated and time consuming. Exact same transaction

Hardware store is okay and has a good assortment but seems more expensive than Land's End.
The Steren electronics store within the hardware store, used to be a Radio Shack franchise and was typically mediocre. Now that it's Steren, it's not worth the trip. Staff has absolutely no product knowledge and out-of-stocks abound.

While they have all the things one might expect at a hardware store don't expect to get any help. I've been multiple times and can hardly find an employee who either knows what I'm talking about or is even around. Employees always seemed confused or just aren't around so bring a list and don't hold your breath on being helped anywhere but the register

Really the only place to go for your everyday home products in Provincetown. They carry paint, light bulbs, fixtures, all the modern every day use products. They have a radio shack inside which carries... CELL PHONE CHARGERS - great for the tourists that forget theirs at home!
The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have a system on their register to track your purchases and offer discounts!
