Royal Carolina is a family owned company, established in 1971 by Felix A. Euforbia. Recruited to the South by Fieldcrest Mills executives in the sixties, Mr. Euforbia was an innovator. He was on the cutting edge of all things printed for his entire career in the textile industry. He drew architectural plans, designed machines and held a patent for a method of coloring pile fabrics.
Rotary screen printing uses woven metal mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The stencil forms open areas where ink pushes through and transfers to the substrate using a roller or blade. One color prints per screen, so several screens used together to create high quality, multi-colored designs.
The finishing process adds ink or chemicals through a bath or coating to improve the natural properties of the fabric and increases its serviceability. There are many uses for woven or nonwoven goods with specific enhanced properties. Pad dying fabric offers customization with added color choices. Adding Durable Water Resistant protects the fabric from both oil and water.
I have been with Royal Carolina for almost a year as a marketing/business development intern, and it's been great. Being able to stretch myself and see my true potential on top of realizing where my passion and future career. If you would ask me what I expected coming into this internship I would tell you nothing of what was actually reality.
