FIREWOOD RESTRICTIONS: Due to the emarald ash borer (EAB) a firewood restriction order has been issued by the DNR. Therefore, no firewood is to be brought into camp. All firewood must be purchased from us. PROTECT LEECH LAKE FROM AIS: Remember to keep our lake safe and free of Aquatic Invasive Speies by emptying any water from your boat, live wells and bait buckets before entering our waters.

New Leech Lake Campground is open year round for summer and winter ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and ATVing. We are located on Portage Bay at the north end of Leech Lake. We offer seasonal, primitive tenting, and full hookup campsites. We have two housekeeping apartments (like cabins) above our lodge that are set up to be used individually or with a door that opens to allow the two apartments to become one.

WELCOME to our Lakeside Apartment which has recently been fully remodeled and updated with new floring, paint, total new kitchen redo, appliances, beds, bedding and decor. This apartment has the best view of anyplace in the entire camp. You have incredible views of sunrises, easy listening and the calls of the loons.
New Leech Lake Campground has an easy access boat launch ramp and a harbor updated with a floating dock system. Remember to bring your own boat ties and bumpers and you will be set. Ice fishing in the winter on Leech Lake can start as early as December and continue thru March.

We have 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place for Muskie and 1st Place for Northern and for anyone who catches a Muskie above 40" gets to put their name in to "Don's Lucky Draw" for $1,000!One chance per person. Our muskie tournament is held only within Portage Bay of Leech Lake. Don's Portage Bay Muskie Classic is ALWAYS the second Saturday & Sunday of August each year.
Leech Lake is Minnesota's third largest lake. The lake has a lot of underwater structure and many bays. The deepest area of the lake is located in Walker Bay where depths reach around 150 feet deep but most of the lake is less than 35 feet deep. Excellent fishing begins right off our docks.

Leech Lake is well known among anglers for its excellent walleye, northern pike, and muskie fishing but the lake also boasts large numbers of perch, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie and panfish.Since we are a small camp, everyone knows everyone. You can go to any of our permanent campers and ask their advice.
New Leech Lake Campground is just five miles south of Portage Lake. Portage Lake receives relatively little fishing pressure due to its close proximity to the well-known Minnesota fisheries of Leech Lake and Lake Winnibigoshish. Portage Lake has a naturally reproducing walleye population as well as a stocking program managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
