I went in with a weird question about matching a unique piece of hardware, and the employee solved my problem without even needing a new or custom-made piece! We needed to replace the failing magnetic closures on our plantation shutters. We are not handy & had no idea how to do this. Luckily, our excellent handyman recommended going to Winks Hardware. I called and the man I spoke to was very condescending when HE didn't understand the problem. In his 27 years he had never heard of what I was describing. Funny, the young man at Parkrose hardware, that refered me to winks, understood the problem and explained it to me as if I was a homeowner of 20 years who did her own repairs.

I traipsed around town looking for a very specific kind of knob, and found EXACTLY what I needed at Winks. I should've stopped there first! They have an impressive selection of knobs/handles/hinges in a ton of different styles and colors AT VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES. Their hardware is well stocked, which is always a relief. I was in and out with what I needed in no time. I'll definitely be back!

Girl who answers phone is extremely rude! After being on hold for more than 5 minutes and unsure if I was accidentally disconnected, I called back. I was nicely explaining that I wasn't sure if I had been disconnected or not and that I could no longer hear anything on my end, hence the reason I'm calling back, and she rudely reassured me that I had not, and that I could continue to wait or hang up if I preferred! So of course I reacted like anyone would and said I would go elsewhere. If I preferred? How completely uncalled for. Sadly for the business I needed hardware for 16 doors,

Today marks the first time I ever heard of or visited this hardware store. Twelve washers were needed but as a medical transporter in the first responder category I was grateful for the use of the business' bathroom. The lady said go to the rear of the store and turn left. After exiting the bathroom I looked down and aisle to look for the washers. Another lady in the back appeared and I asked if she could point me towards the washers. Unexpectedly the same female employee snapped my head off by repeating "what are you doing back here...you can't be here...it doesn't matter why

W.C. Winks is the best hardware store in the USA. I can always find exactly what I need. No matter how weird or crazy my idea is the crew at winks is always down to help make your projects come to life and happen. I build props for stage use, and lots of construction projects for myself and friends.

Going to Winks hardware is like going back in time to when the staff knew you and took the time to help you with anything down to the smallest, most obscure nut or bolt. They will find it for you and explain how to use it. Friendly, helpful staff makes hardware shopping a joy. Unfortunately, they're not open on the weekends.

The people are always super-helpful. They don't care if the purchase is for $20 or $200, they'll help you solve the problem. They seem to know just about everything but if they don't, they won't fake it. They'll search out the answer. Also, they don't shame my ignorance.
This time I had an idea for a bathtub-to-shower-conversion that I think turned out to be a pretty good one, cheaper than the usual converter kit and better for my particular situation. After wandering all over town and the internet, I finally got the help I needed

Thanks to John, I called complaining about getting a parking ticket when we did not see a sign that I felt signage was inadequate. John was courteous, pleasant and helpful. He suggested I write a letter with my Check to the State and tell them I felt the no parking sign was too small, so small that a contractors truck could obscure the signage. Today I called John, he took my call, said he remembered me. I told him I got a refund check ($60.00) for most of the parking ticket. Super nice guy! Also thanks for State of Oregon for reading my letter.

Winks is a great place for direct service. Not many hardware stores have dedicated sales people that you don't have to chase or find. Their staff is knowledgeable and they know their inventory well. Their items may have a small convenience fee, but are generally comparable to other big box pricing, which makes sense because they are convenient and a smaller business. Winks is hands-down my go-to supplier for any hardware needs! Even when there is a longer wait at the service counter (for back-of-house supplies), I still find it more efficient than searching on my own at a regular store. I went to Winks today for the first time because I needed a funky piece of hardware for a wheelchair. I took a number, which was called right away. Claus looked at what I needed, consulted a fellow employee, and brought me back to all the drawers. He found what he thought would be a suitable solution - turns out that the hardware was of an odd size, specific to the wheelchair manufacturer - but he walked me out to the car to check that it would work.
