In today's world, parents and children face a variety of challenges. You want the best for your children, to teach them important values and responsibilities. You want them to be able to cope flexibly with stress, to grow academically, and to become socially adept. However, things are different than when we grew up - there are rapidly changing environments, technology, social media, and pressures of academic competition that we didn't face.
It's no wonder parenting can feel overwhelming. There is no 'one and only' answer that fits every young person's life. My goal is to be part of your team. By considering your family's unique strengths, as well as specific needs, we can navigate the challenges together.

Today's world has added a great deal of complexity to the traditional challenges of parenting. First, there is the foundation of teaching important values and responsibilities that will help your child in the future. You want your child to learn to cope flexibly with stress, to grow academically, and to become socially adept.
I provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, teens, and adults. Therapy may be appropriate for any of a number of issues; my areas of expertise are listed below. In individual sessions, a safe working relationship can be the context in which goals can be examined and reached. By incorporating members of the family in therapy sessions, we can formulate supports, interventions, and at-home strategies in order to reach identified goals.
I believe it is important to integrate research backed treatment with an overall approach that views the client in their context. By viewing concerns and goals this way, we can understand how family, friends, school, work, hobbies, faith, and other important elements fit into the person's life. Understanding a person's context may reveal sources of stress, but also strengths and resources that can be harnessed to improve quality of life.
Please note: Email communication with Dr. Doug Davis does not establish a professional relationship, nor does email communication constitute provision of psychology services. If you have an emergency situation, do not email me; instead, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. My office location is a little tricky, because it can only be accessed by one side of a divided part of Creedmoor.
